I thought you couldn't legally put a stock on an AR pistol?

 

Pistol length gas system and buffer tube doesn't necessarily mean it's a pistol length barrel.

 

Anyone have any good recommendations for a gun safe? Just bought a new house and whilst moving my 'armory' if you will, I realized I've now reached the amount of crap needed for a safe lol. Would like to keep it around a grand, below if possible, but I have heard not to skimp on safes. Probably somewhere around a 10 rack for now, with extra storage for valuables and ammo

 

I bought one at Wally World for $300. It's the key pad one. Not fire rated but seems secure.

 

While I understand budgetary requirements, this is one place to not skimp. I would recommend one that has a fire rating, this will increase the price though. You said a 10 gun, but you also said armory so does that mean you have 10 guns going in it or will there be room for growth. My brother got a 10 gun and now needs a bigger safe because he didnt allow for adding to his collection.
IMO its easier to suck it up and spend the extra money whether you want to or not now, before that big ass thing is in your house than to upgrade later. Get the biggest one you can afford.

Fort Knox is pretty much the best manufacturer out there, then work your way down from there, as they will be the priciest.

Also something to think about, is a redundant lock. This is an electronic and dial lock. In case of shit hitting the fan and an EMP or in more of a reality type scenario.....your battery dies, you can still get into it.

 

Good to know! Thanks for the advice! I will have to budget higher, then. I also don't mind having multiple safes. While I understand having a larger 25 rack safe is nice, I also wouldn't mind having 2-3 10 racks sitting around the house, bolted down in closets unobtrusively

 

This may be what you're looking for. The Shockwave Blade. Same concept as the Sig Brace but less cumbersome and less expensive. The company is awaiting their final approval of the design from the ATF. They anticipate it will come very soon. Worth a look.

That would work to. More than one way to skin a cat. But the fire rating I would definately keep in mind.

 

Oh most definitely. I know I don't need a giant one st this time, mostly because I don't have the storage for it, but having a couple smaller ones scattered around the house would work well. DEFINITELY getting a good fire rating though, agreed. Even if just on the one in the bedroom, put the good guns in there along with our expensive stuff

I went as far as building one on Fort Knox's website and they sent me a quote. Not sure about the other manufacturers have that option but it helps. Like buying a truck. Build one and go from there.

 

I like that! Will be looking for one myself in the near future as all I have currently is a gun cabinet..

 

Dont forget an electric dehumidifier. Not sure where you live, but they are priceless.

Buy one bigger than your current needs if you plan on more firearm purchases. My current safe is stuffed to the gills with firearms and important documents. All of my AR's currently reside outside the safe due to its limited space.
