I have 20 40's, so I guess that would have to be my favorite.

Got an XD-M, and an XD sub-compact to carry.

agreed...but its a great example of how just because you have a larger caliber doesnt mean its going to stop someone and those smaller calibers when well placed...do a great job

I use .40 Speer Gold Dots @ Work but my favorite handgun round is the .357 sig round. In a Glock 31 it a hot round going at 1400fps and in a Glock 35 longslide with a .357 conversion barrel Speer's go at around 1600fps. Ballistics wise a windshield or glass won't be a major problem for the round such as a 45 deflecting. Sure 45 is a huge round but at around 900fps they drop at 35-50 yards and a .357 Sig you can shoot steel at 100yards without much Kentucky windage.

For the 9mm and 45 fans if that's what you can comfortably hit your target with that's fine. But the Columbine, CO cop that was a School Resource Officer at the High School the day of the massacre had a better round than a 9mm, when he engaged the shooter prior to them entering the school he could have been more accurate and effective.

Just a Jarhead Deputies 2 cents.

By the way... I would say .40 is my favorite. However, I sure wouldn't mine having a 1911 Micro 45acp. :)

.357 SIG in a Glock 31, loaded with Winchester Ranger 125 gr. bonded hollowpoints.
It would be my daily CCW gun, if my Commie state allowed us to legally carry.

8mm Mauser is my favorite long gun cartridge. Used to be as cheap as 9mm, back when a box of 9 was $5 :(

Just to be different... I love the good ol .22 . At 4 cents a pop its hard to hate em and they spit lead just as fast and accurate as their larger cousins.

But I hate to say it but NATO rounds are abundant and 9mm seems to be there perfect mix size and damage (both to your wallet and target). Cant go wrong there.

As far as a .45 goes... If you plan on using a gun on another human being you have to be prepared for the court date afterwards no matter what state you are from or in. And bullet size (ie intent to stop or intent to kill) will be considered. I personally will take the smaller round and aim for non vital positions.
If you are going over the rine though good luck lol

respectfully...i'd like to disagree...if you draw a weapon youre already showing intent of deadly force...if you draw youd better damn well be justified in shooting it

if you are justified in shooting a person youre justified in killing that person...

As long as a court of law sees it that way I agree with you. Except the lawsuits I see today don't necessarily follow common sense.

lawsuits and being caught up in the actual legality of the drawing/shooting are 2 different things

you can justifiably shoot someone with a .22lr and find yourself in the middle of a lawsuit in this country
