What is your favorite caliber for a pistol?

OK.. I have had a Colt .38 special revolver which was my father's. it's about 40 yrs old. I recently got a Beretta .40 because I wanted something that handled well with good stoping power. I will probably buy another pistol after a few months so I want to know.....

What is your favorite and why? Like why a .380 over a .38 special

Revolver- .357 mag/ .38 special

Because you can plink all day with .38's and still have the magnum power with the .357 mags

Semi- .40 cal

I have always loved the .40 cal for some reason.

.357 mag. smith and wesson model 686+. I like it just because it has a lot of power and I can use it for defense and huntin. I like a revolver cuz it's less that can tear up and I just dont like semi autos.

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

My Favorite is my .44 mag. Accurate out to 100 yards, can be loaded up to pretty dam good power (enough to hurt my hand), and packs a decent punch for game animals.
For self defense: my 9mm and .45 acp are a tie

I love my 45 acp just cause it's got the power to stop what i need to stop and it's fairly accurate up to 60-70 yrds.

.45 ACP classic fighting round. Been around for 100 years. Preferred by some Spec ops units over NATO 9mm.

Besides the magnums, the only caliber that will knock down bowling pins in pin shoots.

same here on both accounts.

my charter arms .38 special police undercover is pretty sweet, and has alotta pop to it. distance....not so much, it has a 1 inch barrel almost. and my beretta cougar, shoots nice, fits really well, rounds aren't all that expensive, especially if you have a buddy who reloads, and the .40 has great stopping power if and when you need it to.

I'm in the same boat as you, I love my 38 special but bought a .40 just because its cheaper to shoot and its a lot easier to find ammo. Got to say its a tie I love em both.

9mm.

I never saw a use for or advantage for the .40 and .45 is too expensive for me to practice with reguarly.

9mm a useless cartridge? To everyone that was ever killed with a 9mm, "I command you to raise up! you're not dead! You were shot with a useless cartridge!"
