Pig pictures

Ferral hogs are pretty big problem. I've seen a lot of people post pictures of big ones on facebook, does anyone here have pictures of pigs they've seen or killed?

This is one my dad killed about 4 years ago. It weighed about 186 lbs.

 

theyre destroying our coffeeland/mac nut farm.... last count we were right under 20 kills

As with any wild game it takes some preperation but them loin chops are awsome! Here is a couple of mine from the last couple years.

 

Broke the scale at 250lbs so not sure what he weighed exactly. Had to use 4wd to drag him out of the soggy field though...

 

Does the bacon taste like bacon?, that would be all that mattered to me.

TN does not have a big problem some areas have them. but TN use to have a season on them, but thanks to the big time hog hunters that would get them from other states and let them go in parts of TN they closed it all together. Farmers and big land owners can get a permit and have up to like 10 people on a list that can kill them though. They did this in hopes of stopping people from getting them out of state and releasing more. I’m sure if we start having a really big problem in a lot more areas they will look at opening a season again.


the problem we have is a few WMA have them and none are within like 150 to 200 miles. The thing about hogs is they don’t really just show up in areas in spots like they kinda are here. they are kinda expanding their range though.

If you are able to get bacon off of a wild hog yes it taste like bacon. Most of the time you wont get any because they are so lean. Loin chops, pork butt(shoulder roast)!





Edit: Tip for most any wild game is to soak the meat in salt water, it helps remove the blood and gamey type flavor and also starts to break down the muscle fibers(tenderize). I use this method for all wild hog, duck, deer, dove, elk ect.

 

How about warthogs?

 

Our hogs on Maui aren't "gamey" at all. Where we hunt there is a shit load of mango, avocado, papaya, guava, and liliko'i (passion fruit) our pigs are damn sweet

10:30pm last night 30degrees bright full moon. Drove up on this guy rooting up my dads coastal hay field wreaking havoc. Shot him on a full run at 75 yards

Thanks! call me cruel but it's fun to watch them pile up from a full run to instadead. That is of course assuming it's a quick kill not a gut shot...

 

Do they actually taste good, or do they just say that on the cable TV shows so PC crybabies get slighly less upset?
