SO! Now that I have your attention...

    I've gotten the bug...

I picked up my mossberg 590A1 a few months ago... put a few hundred rounds through it (gotten the matching bruises too )...

And I recently went to the range with my buddy and shot his Kimber 1911.

Fun gun to shoot but I want something a little different.

    What I'm looking for:

    • Semi-auto Chambered in .45

    • SINGLE STACK (I live in CA and don't plan on moving so I don't want to deal
with a double stack mag that I CAN'T EFFIN USE)

    • Metal frame is preferable but not a deal breaker

    • will keep with ~300rnds a month (not much but I'd like something reliable, of course, with proper cleaning and maint.)

    • prefer an integrated rail

    • ~$600-$1000 monies

Used Colts, Sigs and rarely Les Baer seem to go for that range so pile on the suggestions folks...

    From the Kimber 1911, yes.

Not necessarily 1911 in general, but just as to not feel like we're taking the same gun to the range.

I'm going to the range this weekend to shoot a 220R so we'll see how that goes.

    I'm not set on getting a 1911, a popular choice, I know.

But I'm trying to see what's out there that I may have missed in my hours of online browsing!

I got to shoot a Springfield XDm in 45. Not single stack, but It was a nice shooter.
The XDs is nice, but since your in Cali, you probably wont be carrying. I keep seeing Colt 1911's circa 1913-1930 in my LGS. I would love to pick one of those up. If only to hold it and imagine where it has been all these years. The war scars on them are beautiful.

i don't mean to rag on your gun, dude...
but, i bought a Ruger SR1911 about a year and a half ago
i was pretty disappointed: the slide to frame was super-sloppy, the trigger was too; pretty much rattled in every direction and had disgustingly gritty creep... and my gosh, no matter how many times i read the owners manual that engraving on the slide that told me to read it before i shot the gun just wouldn't disappear

maybe i got a lemon... maybe they are better now
i got a Stainless Springfield Milspec, recently; way tighter... i'm pretty happy with that gun
    and it cost less

i wanted a Kimber Eclipse... but, i'm not rolling with that kind of money. haha

Auto's are fine and I own several, mostly 40 cal., but to carry,I perfer a wheel gun! Why? It doesn't throw evidence all around in the event of a shootout!
