So, I have a Ruger SR1911, bought it new this past August. The stainless frame at times has small specks of what appear to be rust. At this time it is my CCW while my Glock 19 is at the gunsmith. A real good cleaning (ala 30+ minutes) can take care of it, but I often don't have time for it.

I am think of either trading it in and getting a Glock 21 or having my local gunsmith coat it black. While I'm not too invested in the 1911, I am pretty invest in the .45, I have a few rounds at hand.

I can't decide on which route to take, both appeal to me. So help me decide TW.

I love my G30, loud AF though, don't own a 1911, too cheap but my .45 hasn't let me down.

The correct answer is always another Glock IMO. Love them and I am cheap as well tough to beat it though.

41 looks sweet.....more of a range gun. Pretty big frame. I held the 42 today for first time. Surprised how small and good it feels in hand. I want one

That looks very similar to what I have. It's good to know there is hope, I do like my SR1911. Only problem I've had was a failure to feed after firing the very first round through, not a problem since in 500 rounds. Thanks for the info, I'll give it a go and hopefully it works for me.

I have a colt 1911 commander edition and I love it! It doesn't have any rust and it packs a punch as well.

My SR1911 has also developed very small specs of rust. If you can get it cleaned up and lubed up to prevent the rust from coming back, I would say keep it. The 1911s are way better looking guns than a Glock. Both are great guns, but I'm kinda old school and like my firearms to be visually appealing as well as reliable.
