need a new blackpowder!

last year i bought a new Thompson Omega with the weathersheild coating and i clean my guns religously, but i cant keep it from rusting. ive looking at a new Omega with just a stainless barrel and a knight rolling block tell me what yall think is better!

 

ive got an older TC(maybe 6 years old) and it rusts constantly. Even in the safe(with a dehumidifier,(SP) the barrel rusts.

I havent even looked at the new models, but good luck

 

The only problem with blackpowder rifles is that blackpowder is much more corrosive than smokeless. Even with a stainless barrel, it requires much more work, usually in vain, to stop it from rusting. Do you want it for the muzzle loading or for the smoke and noise of black powder?

I remember Hodgdon came out with a blackpowder substitute a few years ago that was supposed to be non-corrosive but wasn't quite as smokey as blackpowder. Might be worth looking into.

 

Try using the Triple 7 powder, it cleans up much easier and is less corrosive. When i store my guns I always coat them with bore butter and it seems to keep the rust down.
