I'm a sucker for tanto blades, and never had a problem with them in military and LEO.

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
I own both 3 Gerber products and 2 CRKT, and the CRKT is 3X the knife that Gerber is.
I am not impressed with any of the Gerber products that I own.

I've had that same knife and it is a beast when it comes time for cutting or anything else for that matter, Chris you won't be disappointed. I still have mine somewhere around here.

I have the m16-10kz edc and would buy another one. It has been a great knife and the build quality is superb.

I have a couple CKRT's and I like them. Definitely go with a serrated edge. It is handy if you need to cut something tough. I am currently carrying a Kershaw Ed Onion Storm II and I frickn love it.

I have 3 Columbia River knives, and they are very dependable and hold an edge. I prefer the smooth blade over the partially serrated blade for daily carry. Big 5 has great sales on them occasionally.

are you planning on having this for utilitarian purposes, or is it for your weak side in conjunction with a firearm?
