I carry a kel tec 32 with the wallet mod for carrying when im wearing dressed up clothing. It fits perfect in my back pocket and not worry for concealment. but when im casual I wear my 45 Kimber ultra tactical with an inside the belt holster.

Well it matters what caliber you want. My 32 cost me around 250 I think. You really shouldn't need more than a 32 if you are a good shot. :) I think my kel tec might even fit in the coin try by your left knee. I know it wont with my wallet mod. I put hollow point bullets with 4 bb's siliconed in the middle. I forget what they are called but they will do some damage for a 32. If you try to get a larger caliber for around 300$ you wont get anything reliable in my opinion. Or you could always go with the .380. I would have the 380 right now if it was available when I bought it cause its the same size.

I have seen some bad things with Bersas, I would stay away from them. There are different size guns for different purposes, and in the Keltec arena, I like the Ruger LPC as I stated earlier. In this pocket size category I own a .38 revolver which suites my needs.

I have owned XDs for 7 years, since before most people knew they existed and I think they are great. I love my XDm 40 that I currently own. I carry a glock 27 daily while off duty and a glock 22 on duty. These are great guns and I believe they deserve a better title than "trendy."

These types of debates always interest me. I've got a handful of rifles for when that thread gets started ;)

Yea the bersa's are kinda hit and miss, I dont think i would use one for self defense. The ruger LPC's are nice guns for the price. But since you said it would be a truck gun I think i would want something a little bigger than the 380 or 32.
here is a pick of my XD 40 service model. This is my home defense and range gun. I work on an airforce base so i cant keep a gun in my truck all the time.

most gun shops will order whatever you want. If price is a big factor then really look at some used guns man. then you can get a nicer gun with a smaller price tag:D

My off duty carry gun is my P3AT. I personally know 12 other Deputies that carry Keltec's- we have to qualify with our BUG. Can I carry an XD or an HK? Yep. But why? My P3AT goes bang every time. It gets holster wear, sweat, sand, fish slim, hog blood, lint on it. Try that with my XD 40 and I'd be upset.

As far as my truck gun goes. Don't laugh.. It's a Hi Point in .40. Yep a Hipoint. Why? I bought it used for $115. If some one breaks in my truck and steals my Hi point. Eh, the window will cost more to replace.

I do have nicer guns. They are my "toys". I take great care of them.

My "tools" still get care, but I don't feel bad when they get used hard.
