    back to bone stock.
    dead jake.

it was really slow all day. only a few feeble goobles from waaaay "over there". nothing was moving, and i was slow cooking in my ground blind. i ducked out to hike to the tacoma and get my forgotten water and lunch. i ate and hiked back. NAP TIME! i let out a few clucks, and settled in for a nap. WTF? a hen responded! i clucked back at her every time she clucked at me. she came in! i laughed at her, and kicked myself for forgetting my camera. closed my eyes again..as they were slamming shut, i saw movement! a jake was following the hen! he took one look at my lone hen decoy and came right to me. i normally dont shoot such young birds, but i was lonely, and was getting bored quick. i sent $20 worth of arrow right thru the bird. he flapped right into a creek and expired. a wet turkey makes for ugly camera phone pictures..hahah. second bird of the season, third overall...down for the count.
