lol good race card buddy. no one said anything about racism but you. do some research. Its a simple small step in the bigger outlook of what has been publically known that our 2nd amendment is at and has been at stake for the past few years.

Side Note:On June 27 or 28 of this month, the Supreme Court will rule on the McDonald vs Chicago case which will be a landmark case which it is expected that The court will incorporate the 2A against the States. Once this happens it will substantially easier to challenge state and local governments on 2A rights due to bogus legislation. Personally I'm busting out a cigar come June 27/28.

    bzzzzz! Wrong again.

That may be, but arguing generalities does nothing for your case. You need to present SPECIFIC concerns when you're speaking with your representatives. Simply saying that your 2nd amendment rights are being infringed upon is as useful and coherent as the "Dey took r jarbs!" argument from South Park.

This act shall take effect January 1, 2012, or at such time that
    27 the superintendent of the state police has received written notice from one or more microstamp job shops that such shop or shops are willing and prepared to produce microstamp structures on two internal surfaces of a semiautomatic pistol in accordance with subdivision 24 of section 265.00 of the penal law for a price of twelve dollars or less at a production level of one thousand semiautomatic pistols per batch, whichever occurs first;

The way I read it is that the micro stamp job shop has to be able to produce micro stamping on two sides of the case and cannot charge more than 12 dollars per 1000 guns...

If thats correct then I doubt any shop is going to want to mess with that.
which means semi auto handguns wont be able to be bought or sold in NY. I guess everyone will switch to revolvers and then they will just figure out a way to ban those too..

Shall we bring up generalities like the disarming of New Orleans by our own domestic standing army or the invasion of central TX gun show recently with the federal strongarming of the building owner?

^ that's my thinking too, and THAT is exactly what should be mentioned to the representatives. It's an unrealistic, borderline impossible inclusion that will definitely cause issues in the future.

My comment was referring to how there's no mention of removing existing guns from lawful owners or requiring retrofit tagging systems to existing guns.

Don't be so naive to think that this isn't another step forward in disarming the general public and stripping their rights away from them.

I get the sense from your comments that you trust your Government a little too esily. They have only their interest in mind 95% of the time. I don't need to read a bill or research the topics to know that.

Didn't mean to toss you under the bus. I know it was a lighthearted comment. :p

It's just something that needs to be omitted from discussion when presenting a case and trying to sway the stance of the other side. :)

Specifically in this case? No. It's completely irrelevant to the NY state bill.

When you allow your focus to wander, you're seen as disorganized and you lose your audience. Keep your talking points to the issue at hand and you'll have better results.

I'm not taking a side here. I'm trying to help you guys learn how to present a solid, coherent argument that won't immediately be dismissed as emotional and reactionary.

By the way, this is EXACTLY how you allow others to control you:

You're worried about the government controlling your rights, but others are controlling your emotions by imposing their beliefs upon you. If you don't take the time to verify the information, you're a pawn.

I agree. Didnt mean to get off topic but the gun control thing is very touchy for alot of people who know not to trust the current govt. Not Obama its just the infringement of 2nd amendment rights. I'm all for gun control with keeping it out of the wrong hands and keeping track of who has what but we have plenty of laws that restrict that now. I'm not a dumb yee-haw southerner but I do question the real intent of the govt when it comes to the public defending itself. Carry on. Back on topic haha

My rights, my constitution, my gun. They try to take them away bit by bit.

And again, unreliable and easily modified microstamping, why? Please remind me.
Also, who follows gun laws? Criminals, hell no. Only law abiding citizens do.

I'm not emotional, show me what I have said that's not factual. There has been a sharp increase in useless gun control laws passed over the past two decades that have chiseled away at the 2nd amendment of all US citizens. Limiting freedom (my right to bear arms) more and more with each swing of the hammer. Soon there'll be nothing left to chisel away at. That's not emotional it's factual.

New York: Micro-stamping measure rejected in Senate

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg wanted the state Senate to pass a bill requiring microstamping for many handguns. After hours of private discussion, senators debated the bill on the floor. Bloomberg came up short.
