I took my mk 3 hunter to a gun smith because even with the ammo it liked it still jammed ever couple of shots. He found that the feeding ramp is too short from the factory and that it is a factory defect. Has anyone else had this issue. He is going to see how much they will charge to ship it out to Ruger for me. And if they will charge for the repair. though they shouldnt because it was factory defect. It is a $450 gun. It should be made right for that price but i know things happen. I am done with my rant. comments welcome.

I have the MK III 22/45 and I was kinda noticing the same thing. I've only put a couple hundred rounds through it though, so it's not even broken in yet.

I'm sure Ruger will make it right for you. I love my Mark III 22/45 hunter and have never had any major issues with it. It's eaten several thousand rounds with no problems at all....I actually just gave it a good cleaning this past weekend.

My friend took his dad's and used my magazine and nothing happened. with mine what happens is the first couple shots the bullets line up just about right but on the 3rd or 4th shot it hits the nose of the bullet on the ramp and jams. He tried to fix just the ramp but it is part of the barrel so the whole thing will need to be replaced.

    Hmm...

That's really weird that the first few shots line up fine but then it jams- if it was bent you think it would right after the first shot. Has it always done this (from the very first magazine you put though it) or did it only start doing this after the first time you disassembled/re-assembled it? If the gun gets dirty enough it can have problems ejecting shells cleanly but other than that you shouldn't run into too many other issues due to fowling.

Are you sure you didn't bend or break something in the gun when you where trying to clean it a while back? I remember you posting about having problems putting it back together and I think you had to use a hammer to get it apart after your initial attempt at putting it back together.

Either way, if it's having this problem consistently Ruger should be able to duplicate it and fix it for you.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
22 pistols will always be 22 pistols. Take it for what it is, and enjoy being able to afford to shoot haha. My sig mosquito gives me FTE's every now and then, but for the 12 bucks I pay for 500 rounds of ammo, i'm more than pleased.

Its been like that since I got it. I thought at first it was just because it wasnt oiled up and needed to be worked in but it happens with all ammo and any mag, and it is just mine that is doing it it seems like there is definitely something wrong. the reason its after the first couple of shots is because the first couple of shots the bullets sit at a high enough angle to miss the edge of the ramp but after the second or third round the angle has decreased some and it begins to hit the ramp.

that is true however if every two shots I have to stop pull the bolt back take out the mag dislodge the jammed bullet that now cant be fired because the nose is screwed up, it is no longer fun. and it really sucks if I am hunting rabbits or squirrels with it.

what ammo are you using. I have a MkIII Hunter and have several thousand rounds thru it without one jam. If you are using stingers or yellow jackets they might jam because the case is a little bit longer.

Basically what is happening is that the top of the nose of the bullet hits the bottom of the ramp and digs in and causes the gun to jam. It has hit hard enough in some cases to actually split the bullet.

Are you keeping the gun cleaned?

We have a MK II and only a couple times has it ever jammed up in years. That was usually due to poor rounds.

Have you ever lubricated the mag to make sure its springing up properly?

    (I'm just guessing)
