Just got my tax return and it is burning a whole in my wallet! At first, was dead set on buying an AR-15, but for the sake of saving SOME money I think I may just look for an AR Style .22 for now. Currently have a cheap .22 bolt action, but looking for something more along the AR platform/design.

Just started researching the different brands (I am more familiar with handguns, more so than AR styles and so forth).

With that said, what do you all recommend. I would love to stay around $500 or so. What do you suggest? Pictures would be great!

M&P 15/22, Mossberg 715t, or ATI Omni 22 are AR style options

The price of that mossberg is very appealing. Anybody have any experience with it?

I am in the same boat. I would prefer an actual AR with a 22 Upper on it for versatility but then that put me in the whole price gauging of the current AR market...

You can find a 22 ammo online. Gotta look for it and pay the price.

I guess it all depends on the location, because here .22 ammo is readily available. Prices have went up obviously, but still very affordable to shoot and buy

I am pretty sure that is the gun I am going to go with. Seems like a decent buy as well. Any qualms or quirks about the gun right out of the box that I should know of?

i'd try to find a local shop to lay hands on it before you purchase. everyone has different thoughts on feel, etc.

or this, the mp5 clone is fun to shoot, but it doesn't have the versatility like a 10/22
