Oh what a briliant piece of investigative journalism.

So does Walmart, around here at least.

It`s been almost a year since the staged shooting took place that pressured Dicks and many others to discontinue the sell of AR`s

Now Dicks has also figured out that by listening to idiots they have lost a lot of money

There will be many other stores that will follow suit once they figure out they have lost loads of money

Its been a year since I set foot in Dicks and will never again, plenty of other places to shop

First off, a lot of folks think several stores took ARs off the shelf - places like Wal-Mart, Academy, Bass Pro, etc did not - they just sold everything in the Rush (in Academy's case, they took them off of the display, but continued to sell them if you asked if they were in-stock, in Wal-Mart's case, they took them off the website but continued selling them in-stores).

Dick's Sporting Goods actually made a decision to stop selling modern sporting rifles in all their stores:

    http://blogs.militarytimes.com/gearscout/2012/12/27/troy-issues-statement-on-dicks-sporting-goods/

The modern sporting rifles they were talking about were Troy Carbines.

They only pulled the rifles from their shelves to make a statement - they didn't destroy them or sell them to another retail-channel (nor did they return them to Troy).

All they did was wait it out and then put them back on the shelves at specific store-locations - they've essentially taken both sides of this debate and took a dump in each of their respective yards.

Troy's response to the story that Dick's has started selling Troy rifles/carbines again:
Take that info for what it is, but know that Dick's was one of the only retailers that actually targeted ARs to be pulled from the shelves of all their stores.

Some of the ones around here, those in Macon GA in particular, need to start stocking some guns and some employees that know how to use them. Seems like one of them gets robbed every other day.

    :wileyc:

Major retail sporting goods stores are on the side of money. Since I'm sure (I have neither the patience nor desire to look up the numbers) that firearm sales make up a mere fraction of Dick's Sporting Goods total revenues, I feel confident they felt the PR move was worthwhile to maintain a consumer base of their other products.

Now that it's basically blown over, might as well start selling Bushmasters again. I'm sure the entry-level AR crowd is willing to pack away their Gadsen flags when a $950 rifle is on the shelf.
