Hey guys looking for an opinion based on your experience with these two lights. I am in the police academy right now as a trainee for a local p.d. We are issued a sig 226 and a safari land 6360 light bearing holster. Going to be investing in a tac light here pretty soon and like stream light because of the flashlights i have had in the past. Obviously the more lumens the better but i have read some things about TLR-1 HL getting so hot to the touch and melting holsters after prolonger periods of use. Any opinions or experiences are much appreciated. Thanks guys

On a pistol light the tlr-1 is fine. You really don't need the strobe. I've disable mine. The 300 lumens model is too bright in my opinion. If you plan on using that light indoors and in low light you will get a flash back, and somewhat blinded. That being said the I don't think there's a need for the hl model on a pistol.
