just got my recon sticker with the help of my home made flares to cover the tires sticking out. took them out now and was wondering where i could go to get a safety check. my truck has 265/70 17's on a 17x9 4.5 back space. tires only stick out 1/2 " but im not sure it would pass safet check. my recon papers says it has fender flares but i took them out. any help appreciated. mahalo:)

put the flares back on. technically they can take away your recon sticker away if you go without fender flares. whatever the recon papers say you must have on your truck when you go for safety check.

Thanks,I'll leave the garden flares off and put them on when I need a safety check. Just gotta drive carefully so I don't get pulled over.p.s. Getting recon wasn't as bad as I thought.I saw a fellow Lifted Tacoma in line at recon, so we talked about our trucks while waiting for the inspector.

    Aloha!
It's a miracle I found out about recon before pulling the trigger on a lifted taco on CL.
Well, I am writing this forum to ask if I should still get it.
It's only a 6 inch lift with what looks like slight protruding of the tires (no special fender flares or anything)
Will I be able to get a recon cert for this? Or will I be constantly wondering about cops pulling me over in Waikiki/Kapahulu?

My first attempt at buying lifted anything, so big mahalo! for the guidance. aloha~

    no doubt.
Wonder if I can just get fender flares and be OK for recon?

Safety is good for a year from now. (the owner swapped out the muggers for stock rim/tires for that)

Super black tints, but I can have them removed. That's easy
