For the Kauai Ohana. If you can make it theres gonna be good food, music, and friends. All proceeds are going to my teammate, friend, and classmate Puna Rivera who's fighting a recurrent cancer.

HUI KAKOU I HO`OKAHI a benefit concert/auction for Louis "Puna" Rivera

    Saturday, October 15 · 5:00pm - 11:30pm

    Location: Kekaha Boat House

Created By , , More Info Louis “Puna” Rivera is 32 years old, loves fishing, camping, and exploring outdoors. He is a loving father of four and loyal friend. In April of 2010 he began his battle with esophageal cancer, which is a cancer that forms in the tissues that line the esophagus. The tumors that form in the esophagus make it very difficult and painful to swallow which are just some of the symptoms our he experienced which lead to the discovery of his cancer. He did 4 continuous months of chemotherapy and his tumors shrank enough to allow his doctors to surgically remove them. After an additional 4 months of chemotherapy his doctors diagnosed him as “cancer free”!
Over this past summer Puna began to have difficulty swallowing and eating again. He was in extreme pain and lost a significant amount of weight. He went back and forth to his doctors for months but they were unable to figure out what was wrong. In August, he was sent to his surgeon at Straub hospital in Honolulu for a simple procedure that would help him eat and drink comfortably again, but during the procedure his surgeon found that his cancer had returned, this time in multiple places in his abdomen. Puna now has stage 4 cancer and remains on a feeding tube in an effort to gain enough weight to be able to start another 6 months of chemotherapy.
Our loving ohana, friends and community members have come together to put on a benefit concert and auction to raise money to send Puna to Kokolulu Farm and Cancer Retreats on the Big Island, for a 2 week holistic cancer treatment retreat.

The benefit concert and live auction will take place on October 15, 2011 at the Kekaha Boat House. And will feature an evening of live music by Ho'aikane and friends, auction, food vendors, and more! Tickets are $20 presale $30 at the door. All proceeds from this event will help send Puna to a holistic cancer retreat center on the Big Island.

TICKETS WILL BE ON SALE SOON! PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES!
