anyone on oahu immobilized their day time running lights? my truck is still pretty much new and don't want the bulbs to burn or melt the housing. Looking for someone to do that for me. Thanks!

get led replacements if you want the drl still, they dont get hot at all.
if you dont want the drl dealer can turn off for around 100 by plugging it in to computer. remember that if you just undo the wire or take out the bulb your front turn signal wont work since it uses the same bulb.

I switched mine over to LEDs so it wouldn't melt the plastic and so far so good. The LED's are dimmer than the filament bulbs though :(

Was it a hassle to install the resistors to keep the blink rate the same?

I didn't install any resistors. I have the hyper flash. :bananadead:

Kinda used to it now to be honest.

Shoots. Not sure how the cops on Oahu would like that; especially downtown/Waikiki. Guess I'll do the DRL LED mod when I get motivated to find a good place to mount the resistors and read through the threads :p

No, they are also considerably more dim than the regular filament bulbs. I think the quality of the LEDS that I have in particular aren't the best though to be honest. Pretty big trade-off for not worrying about melted lenses but I'd might as well keep it that way after spending the dough on the LEDS.

thanks for the info. Just switched my bulbs to the 3507's that i've been reading on the forums. A lot of people saying that it burns cooler then the 4157's so giving that a try first.

I spoke to leeward servco service department today an they said there is a retro part they can install so you don't melt the housing. They replace the plastic with glass. Not sure if this helps anyone. I am going to go in an get mine done.

I think I should look into this. It just dawned on me that if I get into an accident the other person could point out my dim LED's and put me at fault.

spoke to toyota leeward today and the guy informed me that they will only replace the housing if its under the 3 year or 36k miles. The extended warranty doesn't cover the melted headlights. He said any small sign of bubbling, take it in and they will replace it with the new piece that they just started carrying 3 months ago. Hope this helps anyone!
