I'd take it, but I just spent a buttload of money, and have to spend even more when I pay my friend for all the CNC and waterjet work. And I'm also gonna start accumulating parts to convert my mini mill to CNC

 

Crap.. I would totally jump on it. I need to try and research a go pro first to see all it can do.. I've wanted one for awhile, but never got around to getting one..

We used to go down to Pokai Bay all the time and SUP with the dolphins.. Me and my neighbor also used to go 4-5 mi. (from Pokai to Makaha and back)..

Can it be used to take stills as well, or do you have to set it to just snap at set intervals? As you can see, I know that it is a camera, but have no idea about other functions...

I hear ya bro... I'm more into shooting stills these days. It has great video, but more for my daughters activities than strapping it on the truck...lol And yes...you need a CNC...

 

I think it's worth it for $250, plus accessories!! you can take stills from video and it'll still be super clear. if you mount your camera out of arms reach, just use the wifi remote to start/stop video or take pictures.

the only real downside to the 3 Black is the battery life, but it depends how you're using it. I can keep it on/standby, and take videos while I'm surfing for about 1.5 hrs, but this is without using the wifi remote. you can always get extra batteries though.

if battery life is a huge issue, you might want to keep an eye out for sales on 3+'s, which supposedly last about 2-2.5 hours and have a little better lens... since the new 4's are coming out. when the 3+ first came out, I got my 3 Black for $230/free shipping from Best Buy. just something to think about.

It can do more than most people ever realize Neil! The only downside I had was the battery life when you use WiFi, so I only turned on the WiFi to aim the camera.

If I could afford it, I would take Rick up on it for sure. I still might if I have anything left after I get the bills for my tires and gas.
