When I bought my 2015, salesperson said to not get my key wet. So what do you rippahz do with your key when you surf? All my previous cars were old and I would just put my key in my pocket when I go in the water. LOL.

Just go get a standard key made that you can take in the water with you. Lock your good key inside the truck.

Take it to like a Menard's or a Home depot, and get a standard replacement key thats like 3 bucks, and its all metal. Then just use that one the days you go surfing, also-ive never surfed, but idk how you hold that in your pockets LOL, i would put a hide a key under the truck just incase you drop it in the middle of the ocean haha.

I don't surf, but I do a lot of mountain biking and hate having the jingle jangle in my pockets! Check out the "Hitch Safe". On Amazon- not a bad price of you ask me.

Board shorts come with string in the pocket. I have never lost a key, yet. But then again, I don't charge like some of the braddahz here.

    Thanks guys. Cheeee!

went to home depot and had a key made to open the door for $3 (actually had 3 extras made for just in case). wont start the truck but will get you in the door. Use the string in your pocket to attach it too, never lost one on that spot

Ive been taking my key in the water with me ever since i bought my truck back in 2013. Longest I've stayed in the water was about 3-4 hours straight. Hit the shower rinse off no problems.

Used to put mine in one of those magnetic hide-a-key boxes and stick it in random places under my car. Not sure but I think I got it either at T&C or H.I.C.

I've used this. Cost around 35 bucks, and big enough to hold the key and remote.

Been taking my spare key in the water with me since '05. No problems at all, but always tether it to my shorts using that little string.

I keep mine at the bottom of my Camelback back pack beneath my tools and such. No jingling. :p

I always put mine behind the storage bin in the bed above the fenders. The whole cubby pops out and it's a perfect hiding spot

If you have a tow hitch, go with the hitch safe. otherwise the key alone if you have a zipper pocket on your suit with a loop in it or a loop in your trunks will be fine. I assume the salesman was talking about the key fob not the actual key. The key will be fine, done it hundreds of times too.

I would do this. Not long ago, a gang from TJ.B.C.was ripping off surfers in the parking lots near La Jolly CA. They got away with it a long time by using binoculars to watch where people hid their keys. A couple of them got caught, but the rest are still out there.

This is the way to go. Use it for surfing and diving. I would worry more about the pressure on the chipped key from diving than surfing.
