went to get recon yesterday morning. went in at 7:00am and was 3rd in line. my TPMS light was on, but the inspector didn't even check inside the truck anyways. I'm sure when safety check time comes around, it might be a different story.

he gave my truck a quick walk-around, checked the battery, and had me fill out the paperwork (10-15 mins total). he let me trim my current safety sticker so the recon sticker could fit properly on the bumper bracket. overall, super easy process, but I don't have anything crazy, or borderline not-passable. now I'm certified Waikiki/Ala Moana cruise-able. muahahaha :D:D:D

this was the line at 7:30am, 9 vehicles deep. when I left at 8:15am, the line was out to the road, and getting redirected to a second line. get there early!

7am. I got to town around 5:30am (left early cause I hate traffic) and cruised at the Kapahulu Starbucks for a while before heading over there.

bah, you're confusing me. haha! I got there at 7am, and was 3rd in line. the other 2 guys must've just got there cause I think the gates open at 7.

I snapped that picture at 7:30am, and there were 6 more people that showed up, most of them coming around 7:15ish. when I left at 8:15, the line was out to the road, and a guy was having the cars pull in and form a second line.

your best bet, if you don't like waiting too long, is get there right at 7am. just gotta kill and hour, but as soon as the inspections begin, you'll be outta there pretty quick.

Quick question, here in Hawaii, (oahu) is it illegal to leave my license plate off the front? I hate the look of it but not sure what the law is? Anyone able to tell me?

    front license plate is required.

some people stick it in their windshield but i'm pretty sure it's illegal.

Yeah technically license plates are required front and rear. And the front plate has to be on the outside of he truck securely mounted to the front bumper below the level of the headlights.

that's a nice option. simple and very functional.

I'll need to make something for my car, just had it painted and had them fill in the front holes.

anyone know if the bottom of the plate has to be 12" from the ground or the bottom of the letters? My car is naturally low and not even sure if it will "pass" even in the stock location.

I had LED hi-mount, and reverse and passed fine, but the LED hi-mount is DOT.
