No front. Rear has to cover full width of the tire and at least half way down the height of the tire.

hopefully I'm wrong, but I thought the inspector told me "you lose that (the paperwork), you gotta do it all over again." so, I assume if you lose it, you gotta redo it.

Yeah because you fill out the paper by hand, and a photo copy won't do, you have to fill out a whole new one.

I bought a truck used that had recon. I got new tires with a different size and figured I'd update the recon so safety check wouldnt be a big deal. Turns out the body lift exceeded the legal height and they failed me and ripped the sticker. It was a great adventure

And does anyone know if the pro-comp uni-ball UCAs will meet the "green" alignment specs? or should I recon before installing the new uca?

It had a 3" body lift which is the max but the cab also has a .25" spacer which makes it 3.25" total. Thats what the inspector told me.

You can hit "green" specs with stock UCA's. You will get higher caster with a uniball UCA, the truck will feel alot more stable at highway speeds. That's what I noticed after I installed mine.

    Here is my dilemma:

    Right now:
    1" Body lift
    2.5" strut spacer
    1" leaf block"
    Stock wheels and tires
    -no recon-

    In my garage:
    Dakar leaf pack
    OME 887s
    Procomp uniball UCAs
    285x75x16 Duratracs
(shocks an all the other fun stuff)

So, should I do recon with my set up NOW (with strut spacers, blocks, and BL/stock tires) because i can deffinately get proper allignment? OR will i be able to get allignment with the 887s, UCAs and 33"s ?

I know they make note of the modifications but I doubt the dude there will note its strut spacer vs. OME

just looking for some advice, THANKS

i would at least put the tires on because when it comes down to safety they going check and match tire specs. the other parts not so much unless it lifts the truck at more then current state

from my understaning, get recon because of the lift. how you do the lift is irrelevant. You don't list out everything installed, it will just say "lifted" or "lowered"

if you can pass now, then it might be better to do it now and change the parts out. after you change the parts out, you will need an alignment, so it comes down to if you want to pay for 2 alignments or one, as you need one within 30 days of recon.

Technically you are required to list each lift component so the safety inspector can tell if you changed anything. But RECON is so jacked that they don't even care if you write it all out. They just want to get you in and out as quick as possible these days. When I did my first one 3 years ago they made sure I wrote out all of the suspension components. The inspector walked around my truck with the form looking at everything I listed.. I still did it this last time so my friend that does my safety is covered. And there can be no doubt if anyone tries to give me trouble over anything. Brands and part names for everything I have as far as engine, suspension, body, wheels/tires, and lights. Took me 15 mk it's and some tiny writing to get it all listed lol

If it was me I would go ahead and do everything, get your alignment and book it to RECON. Just get it over with in one shot and be done with it. Most safety inspectors won't give you crap about not matching your RECON papers perfectly, but if they do and enter in the system that you failed, then any other shop can see that and won't give you a safety. They will make you go back to where you failed. Most inspectors won't put in the systems that you failed though, they just don't put in anything at all.
