The safety guy told me that the tires currently on the truck has to match what is noted on your recon papers.

Back in 2013 the guy who did my RECON told me you just had to pencil in the different size if you get bigger tires (while making sure your fenders cover the tread of course) but I doubt certain safety inspectors will accept that. I have no idea though.

Got my recon today. As much as I think recon sucks and the whole process is flawed, it literally took me 10 minutes, and $15. Guys were super friendly and were very vague when looking at my truck. They did turn a bunch of honda guys away for some reason.

    Too long to list :D
If it's lower blame it on the added weight, if it's higher let the. Know you sold your skid plate, which I'm sure you technically did :p
If you have a recon already, you technically have to update it with any change in tire size. But my inspector said if you go to a smaller size they don't care, I my larger.
And don't specifically point it out..

Totally legal again. Went in for an alignment just in case, plus I probably needed it anyway with the new springs.

Got there at 11:40, out by 12:16 (they open back up at 12:00).

No probs. Was good too.. after the Dakar AAL, the rear came up a bit too...

No appointments anymore.. Just a waiting line. They start taking at 8:00 and at 12:00.. I just chanced it to see if I could get everything done in the same day. I hear if you there by like 7:30 or so as well, you'll be pretty close to the first in line.. I was 3rd at 11:40.

So I moved to Oahu and will be here for a few years at the very least. Brought my '08 with me. Flew in on Friday morning, picked up my truck from Young Brothers, and went straight to recon.

Overall, it wasn't too bad. I went at 11:00, no appointment. The inspectors were finishing up the last inspections before their lunch and I was first in line when they came back at 12. There were 5 cars behind me at 12. They did check and keep my alignment sheet, measured the truck, checked under the hood and under the truck. They checked the tint as well and it came out to 26%, so I had to rip it off and re-tint to 35%. Other than that it went pretty smoothly :D

I shipped my truck from the Big Island to Oahu. I paid $316 to ship the truck. Good deal considering I could ship some of my belongings in the back of the truck.

There's a bill out to repeal the recon law, need everyone's help by contacting any reps or senates you may know and simply ask them to support SB 859, and why....

i know no ones posted here in almost a year but..are blacked out headlights/halo lights/any head or tail light mods legal? What about LED light bars in the front grill or under? Those look sick but wouldn't want to do it if it's illegal. Thanks!
