2.5" lift, ARE Shell, Ducks Unlimited Rubber Floor Mats. ROGUE badges,
I personally don't see any reason to do cleans if a person is no longer competing in athletic events.

I haven't touched one besides showing kids I train proper form since I finished football.

Power clean was always my favorite lift though. I broke the record at my school as a freshman and added to it every offseason.

I see people in the gym everyday doing "cleans" with a terrible form for no reason and it puzzles me.

The high fat in the meat sauce probably caused the cramps.

You want something that's fast to digest so it won't lead to cramps. Avoid fats, heavy dairy

    Sandwich:
-Bread: Complex carbs, fiber, starches, gluten
    -Lettuce: Fiber
    -Cheese: High fat, heavy dairy
    -Mayo: High fat (oil)
^^^All of the above is very slow to digest which leads to cramps
Things like tomatoes, onion, lean turkey meat is g2g.

    Spaghetti
Meat sauce is the main culprit: High fat, complex protein

^^^All of the above is very slow to digest which leads to cramps

Even though you ate it 4 hrs prior, its still in your lower intestine being broken up. Unless you took a sizable dump before hitting the gym, that sandwich is still being formed into a log leading to your cramps. Also, did you hydrate? Were you well hydrated?

I always, always, hydrate and take a dump before hitting the gym.

Yup. Nuts, granola, fruits, berries, low fat yogurt, a diluted protein shake (Like half or 1/3 strength), rice, etc... I usually down a Zone Perfect bar with some yougurt and a banana because they're not protein dense (Only 7 grams) and are low fiber, but is high in fast digesting carbs. If you're body can handle it, I eat an over medium egg on gluten free bread also.

Avoid vegetables pre-and post workout. They're high in fiber so you'll be cramping up even if you eat them after, plus they suck water out of your system when you digest. Also, things like oats (oatmeal) and grits are complex carbs which take long to digest so eat for breakfast to keep you fuller longer, but avoid before a workout.

What?! NO you'd want SLOW digesting for STEADY release energy.
Have a scoop of protein and a tbsp of all natural pb
    Or
1 cup oats with some boneless skinless chicken breast...or tilapia

    Sweet potato with lean meat

Hard boiled egg whites, pb, apple.

I disagree. Everybody responds differently to different things. Oats for me (along With a tbsp of natural pb and lean protein) give me that extra strength I need)

It's all about listening to your body. Personally I dont like oats before workout but I do workout at 530am. Tbsp of honey & maybe some whey allows me the intensity I need.

Very true. Everyone needs a different fuel. I need to eat 30 min before hitting the gym and after weights I need to refueling before hitting cardio.

A gym buddy of mine cannot eat within 6-8 hrs of gym time. He can go in starving and still knock out super sets.
