I'm posting this here in hopes of better visibility.

    Background:
Problematic knee for 8+ months ...more than likely a result from training ..After months of being tossed around several doctors, and useless PT that increased the pain, I was finally able to obtain an MRI request for my right knee.

I met with an ortho surgeon 7 weeks post MRI for an office visit to discuss the results.
The results showed inflamed muscle tissue under the knee cap as a result of fluid getting into it somehow....I may have an issue with my meniscus too, but he was unable to tell from the MRI as it takes quarter sliced photos, so will probably check it while he's under it.

The surgeon wants to place two insertions below the knee cap, and one above. The procedure itself should take 45 mins or so, so it's nothing too intense.

He advised I will leave on crutches and can ditch them when necessary, but no real weight training that involves legs for 6-8 weeks.

My question is, is after the procedure should I start with low volume / intensity, or jump right into it? (Presuming I feel 100%) if I go slowly into it, when should intensity be ramped up?

I should know my scheduled surgery date in a week or so.

The sponsored athlete is asking us for fitness advice? Lulz. Whenever I have an injury (never had one as severe as your situation), I like to do light weight, high reps until it's back to 100%, then I go balls to the wall. I don't ever risk severe injuries. I'd rather take the time and let something completely heal and hit it light and easy for a while.......9 times out of 10, this is with my shoulders

I know I should ease back in, I guess I'm
looking for someone with experience in this area...I already had to give up the mud run with Aaron due to the injury.

I've had shoulder issues too, and stopped training them directly for a month or so with PT and it healed itself

Work into it, id say go off feel but dont push it. Id stay even low reps, low sets, light weight at first. In all honesty the slower u ease back into it the better youll be healed. Even starting with airsquats at like quarter depth even tho it sounds pussy could realy help you in the long run. Something like that surgery might not bug you now but once your in your 60s your gona really feel it. I always tell people, pain is one of the last symptoms to show up and one of the first symptoms to go away. Just cuz it doesnt hurt doesnt mean its not injured or being botherd so id say take it easy on it.

What exactly are they doing in the surgery? Acl? Pateller tendon? i didnt see it in your post

I have had 2 blown out joints one knee (torn MCL,LCL,PCL,and meniscus no complete tears) and a shoulder (torn labrum). My personal opinion is to ease back into it. Range of motion and letting something heal correctly are the most important things when it comes to getting back. Joints are incredibly sensitive and will let you know when something isn't quite right. I would start with low intensity no less than 10 rep weights. You will likely feel super unstable and awkward. Focus on form, and don't let your ego get in the way of that. You already know how to build a body up, so there's no real advice I can give you on that front.

On a lighter note, I squatted 265 for 5 reps and DL 305 for 5 and 315 for 2... PRs all the way around. I have never successfully racked up anything over 300 and my previous PR for squats was 245 for 3. Haven't really focused on compounds since my cut started. I did all this 20 lbs lighter than when my other PRs were set. Nothing amazing, but I am very happy with it.

I'd say ease back into it man, BBing isn't everything, your health is much more important.

I tried maxing out on DL today. Wasn't super happy, but 250 for not doing it for a few years is alright I guess?

I'm thinking of starting Olympic lifts soon and wondering what some good beginning weights I should start with. Thinking of doing dead lifts, clean, clean and jerk and snatch. Any others? I'm 6'1" and 200lbs so I don't want to start too light or too heavy. Just a good base weight. Also thinking of doing 12,10,8,6 reps unless you guys suggest otherwise.

Doing cleans and shit... Start with like 55 lbs until you have the form pegged. DLs start at 155 and go from there

id say start as light as you can
i just recently started taking oly's seriously and they skullfuck you if your form is off

I started formwork with 10lb bumper plates on the bar, and doing hang cleans before pulls from the ground, then moved into the full movements including the jerk

    practice the front rack too

Yes. All my gym has. Even the dumbbells are... But that makes more sense.
