sinus surgery in 2 weeks....

been getting really lightheaded/dizzy alot here in the last year, and my sinuses have always been shit...getting sinus infections close to once a month for the last while, so finally went and saw an ear/nose/throat dr. after a sinus catscan...he decided with as fubarred a deviated septum as i have, surgery is best bet. out patient procedure too, so hopefully it wont be too bad. one side, they will cut/move bone and such, other side is some new tech they have now...push a small balloon up in there/expand/remove....supposedly makes you breathe alot better. also getting a mri before hand so they can try to see why i have been deaf in my left ear for so damn long.

anyone else had this sinus surgery before? i know some of my dizziness stems from the neck surgery i had a couple years ago, but the dr did say that with the air passage being blocked as it is....thats causing it a significant amount.

I had it done twice in 10 years. My septum is still a little crooked but they removed polops both times that where blocking my passage way.first time I had my tonsils taken out at the same time so I didn't feel the pain in my nose.second time is was just the nose and it hurt. Before the operations I was like you.i was always fucked up.I couldnt even smell it was so bad. Now I'm fine,my allergies don't bother my anymore.I sleep better with zero snoring.before I sounded like a tractor trailer down shifter. Good luck.

 

Can't really help you out with any input. But I have been having lightheaded and dizzy spells since February, and have not been able to figure out what is going on.

yeah man, not sure if its hereditary or not, but ive had them damn near forever.

 

hope you get squared away too man. have you had your bp/cholesterol checked? that will cause it as well.

 

I had it my whole life as well.I felt like a new man after it.wish I would have done it sooner.

 

Everything under the sun. Except for trying a ear/nose/throat specialist.

It happens to me on a daily basis, especially after prolonged physical activity.

 

if it works even half way decently for me....i'll wish id done it sooner. i wake up not being able to breathe. granted, last few nights, ive used my netti pot and those breath easy nose strips or whatever they are called, and its been better.

 

mine has been daily as well...for the last while. almost wrecked into a bridge overpass last week heading to work cause i got light headed and almost passed out. decided it was time to do something at that point.

 

Exactly how I feel. Feel lightheaded to the point that I might pass out.

I hope this works out for you, but now I have something else to chase after. This has destroyed my life on a daily basis. Not comfortable being outside of the house when the bouts of it occur.

I have to have the same surgery, but I have been putting it off. My wife works at the medical center and is always on me to it done.

My problem is any little cold, allergy, pollen & etc. turns into a sinus infection, then goes to the throat and on down to the lungs if I am not careful. This is something small (sinus problems) that can take you out real fast with pneumonia.

Probably going to schedule my surgery in September. I can take pain really well, just don't like the idea of someone cutting & grinding in my nose ... and stuffing it with cotton ...

My nose problems probably stem from getting my nose broken several times playing basketball and later in the military getting banged around in a helicopter.

The sinus problems can be genetic or from trauma.

Lol......no prob man. I have the surgery scheduled for the 27th,so ill be sure to let you know how it goes. Sinus drainage itself sucks......but you don't want no part of pneumonia....not fun in any way.

 

I am a student nurse. Your sinuses have a lot to do with feeling dizzy. Your hearing problem might be linked to your inner ear, which would explain the dizziness. Your inner ear helps you control your static and dynamic equilibrium. Also, those infections will usually present with dizziness and lightheadedness. A lot of people actually get viruses, too, which can cause you to be weak and subsequently develop bacterial infections as a result. That's why some people go on antibiotics for the common cold; because of the secondary infections.

Some of you might also want to consider daily allergy medications. Decongestants help "clear your head" in more ways than one. They help drain the sinuses, which makes you feel better so you can think better.

 

I had it done in 1990, my headaches are gone, sinus pressure gone and and I was able to breath great 4 days after the operation. The sinus surgery has changed since I had it done you will probably feel 100% better in 1 to 2 days.

 

I have had three sinus surgeries. The first one was to correct a deviated septum, the worst part was removing the packing, that was rough.
The next two were to remove inverted papilloma's. The first of the two were just to get it started, the third removed the root system of the papilloma and that one was pretty brutal. They had to grind away the top of the sinus near the brain, my right eye was black and blue for two weeks.

... ^^^ ... That is what has happened to me several times and it is very scary when you can't breathe due to secondary complications like pneumonia ...

Have been putting off the operation and will get it done as soon as we move and get settled in the next 2 months or so.

It is weird .... needles, blood, guts, broken bones & etc. don't bother me ... but the idea of someone grinding in my nose makes me crazy ...

i have sinus problems to(deviated septum.)my brother had the surgery done about 3 years ago,and said its the best thing that has ever happened to him....i'll be praying for you bud,good luck.
