So what happened to this guy?

Did he ever go to the doctor?

    Any pictures yet?

I see burns almost everyday, and the ones who wait often have nasty infections. Hope he doesn't get compartment syndrome.

Yours is considered 2nd degree or partial thickness because of the blistering. Also fingers and joints are always taken more seriously...granted we take every burn pretty seriously regardless of the area...

Alright well this must not be as bad as I made it out to be or as bad as you guys have made it out to be considering I've been working all week and going to the gym, either that or I'm just oblivious to how bad it is.

I'm seeing my dad today he's an ER doctor.

Yeah because I didn't think it was a big deal? I wasn't freaking out about it until my mom (nurse) saw it? Plus I don't live with my dad. Here is a crappy cell phone picture.

woah, wait a minute... Your mom is a nurse and you're asking a bunch of grown-up kids that like to play in the mud about a "3rd degree burn" on your finger?

If they decide to amputate at the next VA meet, I'll be there with a rusty machete.

My mom is a nurse yeah, but she deals with pregnant women.....not burns. The more opinions the better.

Correct me if im wrong here, and i very well may be.

But don't nurses, in your moms case, have to become a RN before the specialize. And i would think a RN could have the sense to deal with a 3rd degree burn before you see a doctor

Well, I burnt my leg on an exhaust pipe back this summer. Mostly 2nd but a little 3rd degree burn. At the time, I was dating a nurse. She put something called silvadine :notsure: on it. Some sort of silver-nitrate cream that really speeds up the healing process. Main thing is to keep it clean. Keep it wrapped up, a sterile non-stick TELFA type pad and some gauze around that. Just go to the doctor, dude. If that gets infected you could seriously lose an arm...

Looks like mostly 2nd on the outside and 3rd towards the inside.

It's really hard to tell by the pic but that doesn't look good.

You need to get it treated ASAP. Until you go see your dad, or another doctor, be sure to keep that entire area as clean as possible. I would not recommend working out or doing anything that would cause you to sweat.

Infection is the biggest concern with burns, and it appears that yours may be getting there, but again, I can't see much with the pic.

If it were me, I would have just gone into a walk-in/urgent care center. It's only like $80 to see a doc there and they can do just about anything a hospital can, up to a certain point.

I don't know I'm not a nurse. And that's besides the point anyway. She has helped me and she said it isn't infected yet. The yellowish crap she said is my arm scarring up, but a doctor who works in the emergency room is probably going to have a better idea of what to do than a nurse who works with pregnant women and babies. I just didn't ask my dad till now because I didn't think it was a big deal and I also didn't want to because of personal reasons.

I would say let your dad take care of it. Won't cost you anything that way, I would like to think.
