I was well built 6 feet 200 pounds when I was 20 with low blood pressure >120/80 . Now I still have the muscle but zero cardio and I am 245lbs. (getting married and sitting on my ass) Quit my job due to stress in October and started a new company. We had a little girl a week ago - not exactly stress free.
Congratulations on the little girl! Losing weight is the best thing you can do for your overall health and blood pressure at this point. Cardiovascular exercise and cleaning up your diet will help with that.
Focusing on a low sodium diet may work initially, but my guess is you're going to get burnt out, and keeping track of sodium content isn't very fun. If you focus on eating foods in their more "natural" state (unprocessed) and less overall calories the sodium will fall into place.
Slow and steady wins the race. And remember, you're not lowering your blood pressure just to get those numbers down, you're doing it so you can be around to see your kids grow up and lead an enjoyable life.
