Moobs (and getting rid of them)

Here's my deal....any advice would be appreciated! I'm sure I'll mostly end up talking to myself.

I'm 29 for all intents and purposes. I've finally found enough motivation to want to do something about the way I look. I'm 6-2, wavering around a little over 200 Lbs (208 last time I was weighed) I wouldn't say I'm hugely "fat", no "obese" at all.

I have "the gut" and the "moobs" It's disgusting. I absolutely hate the way i look in a shirt.

After Rachael had Sienna, she lost a good amount of weight and didn't seem to do anything real crazy. Ate well, chased the kid around and she was losing some good weight before she got preggo again.

I've started trying to do things better. I believe I get plenty of "physical activity" between being an Auto Tech (up/down, pick up heavy shit (tires) all day, humping the wife almost daily and chasing kids. I also just don't have much time for "extra" stuff. I have started doing some incline push-ups on the stairs in the house. I do about 8 reps 4 times. (hoping these help with the man-boobs thing a little) My work is a little like Cardio, in my view a little at least., On my feet, moving all day.

My biggest problem was food. Lots of fast food, espeically for lunch breaks on work. This is changing, no more of that stuff. Trying to instead eat more banana's, rice/corn chex cereal, oat bars, stuff like that. I will still eat a regular full dinner, but not as much crap as usual. Bake fries. I can't do all this crazy nutty watching calories and stuff. I think I just need to not eat the crap like I was.

I think another big problem has been the pop/soda intake. Diet coke/pepsi is all I was drinking, all day, everyday. Really cut back and am drinking water mostly. Haven't totally taken away the diet soda, one in AM, a luncher maybe and 100% at dinner. The rest is water now. I've read some stuff about how pop can keep quite a bit of weight on a person.

I've always heard that it's actually better to "workout" about 3 times a day for 20-30 minutes than 1 long session. The 3 times a day keeps the metabolism up and what not, this accurate?

Is this a good way to start?

Anything else I can do that would help reduce the appearance of the moobs?

Not trying to be buff as shit. I just want the gut and moobs gone and to not be disgusted by the way I look in a shirt.

Hey buddy, how ya' doin?

Been at this a couple weeks now. Started around the 23rd. Doing well for myself I think. Mostly drinking water, still have a pop in the AM and one/two with dinner. Have barely touched fast food in the past 2 weeks. I've had a plain McChicken the 2 times I've had anything. No fries, no fast food burgers, just 2 McChickens.

Couple fruits in the morning, some oat bars/pretzels throughout the day and then dinner.

Been finding ways to get a little sweat worked up at home and at work. Had a slow day at work today so I took the chance to get in about 3 - 15 minute sessions in with a 33x12.5x15 yokohama geolander at-s tires. Haul it up a flight of stairs, back down and up again. 54.3 Lb Tires is the YGAT-S

Bought a scale today also. Never thought I'd see the day. Last time I was weighed, they said I was 208. That was early this year. To tempted by the scale so I got on....188.5 Lbs. I'll take it. Under 200, shit under 190!

Rach and I have put a friendly wager this little weight loss thing as well. We'll track week to week and whomever loses the highest percentage of weight that week, gets some head. I'll have her gobbling dong every week!

Thats all, fun talking with myself!

I'm almost 30, I should take a little care of myself so I don't fall apart before I'm 45.

What is your true goal here? Cutting fat off your body (and getting rid of "moobs") is 90% the way you eat. I am not saying go on a "diet", you have to actually change your eating life style. It is a very large and stressful commitment as many people turn to food when they are down. Going to the gym and working out is for building muscle. Dont get me wrong, it will help you burn that fat off and a proper balance of the 2 is the best way to go, but the things you eat every day are by far the most important when it comes to cutting your fat out.

Indeed. Calorie intake vs. Calorie work off. I'm not "working out" to bulid muscle or anything, more to get the heart rate/metabolism up.

My eating is the biggest thing I've changed. Literally crap all day, nothing healthy. Fast Food nearly every day for lunch. To much pizza. Much more fruit intake (bananna's, apples, etc), not eat a ton of calories. Excerise a little.

If you're going to eat rice make sure it's whole grain or 100% whole wheat. You'd have to eat about 5 or 6 times a day but small portions.

And if you just want to shed off the fat. Eat more fruits and do more cardio.

Wheat, whole grain, and other complex carbs are for muscles.

Honestly, I realize I'm not actually "overweight" (or by much if i am), I'm sick of the gut. Only one way to get rid of it though, so....

I already feel better in general after 2 weeks. I don't feel as weighed down, espeically at night.

I've been a runner kind of off and on since I stopped competing in cross country and track. When I've been "off" for too long I have put on a few pounds.

At my heaviest I was 5 foot ten and 193 pounds. So, similar to where you are now. I can tell you that for me, the food intake made more difference than the cardio. I did spend some time in the gym lifting weights and riding the bike, but that didn't make the pounds drop off. Neither did adding in some running.

In my case, I eat too large portions, and I tend to eat when I am bored. I finally started asking myself if I was truly hungry or just felt like eating. That's when the weight came off. I'm down to 176 now. Running three or four miles a couple of times a week and throwing a mountain bike ride in there once a week or so seems to allow me to maintain my weight and not have to sweat the diet too much.

Eat less, try not to eat high fat foods, and try to get some cardio. A brisk walk pushing the baby jogger would be all you need when combined with lower food intake.

I'm an appliance repair tech. It's a physical job, but it does not qualify as cardio. That becomes very obvious if all I do is work, then go try to run around the block.

Good luck. It's more about lifestyle changes than it is about extreme dieting.

Wow!! Congrats on the weight loss! Looks like you are well on your way! You are still eating things that are not in your favor (fast food and soda) but I have a suggestion that worked for me.

- Eat a regular meal but downsize it a third. If you are still hungry, wait 20 mins. Your stomach needs time to register that it's been fed and by 20 mins the feeling of hunger should subside.
- Drink water or juice. Lots of water throughout the day, it tricks your body into feeling full and it cleanses a lot of toxins.
- Snacks should be healthy things like dried fruit and nuts. Only a handful combined. It will solve that hungry feeling. Again drink water with this.
- If you work out aerobic style, you tend not to be so hungry after.
- Don't eat after 7pm. Your body slows down by then and it will take longer to process the food intake and it will turn into unwanted pounds.

Hope this works for you, it worked for both my husband and I. Good luck!

I'm 6' 225 muscular and don't have any gut. Either genetics are screwing where your fat is distributed or your scale is broken. Diet is 70%, workout is 20% and genes are 10% in my opinion.

Ehh..it runs in the family a little. My sister is a very big girl. My mother was short and very big. She ended up having gastric bypass a few years ago now. She looks 300x's better. I haven't asked recently, but I thought she said close to 200 pounds she'd lost at that time.
