My Dad is going in for some surgery where they open the chest up and take the heart out to repair a valve. It's a pretty common procedure and i'm not too worried. What concerns me is his chronic sneezing attacks (like every other day) where he sneezes around 20 times in a row. I'm afraid he might have some serious consequences if this happens in the first week or two after coming home. Does anyone have some advice on how to stop or slow down sneezes once they've started? I'm going to insist he wear a mask for the first couple weeks incase it's dust or allergies that set him off. I've read getting some fluid (water or a saline solution) up the nostrils helps to stop sneezes. Any other ideas? We'll be sure and talk to his doctor about this... just thought i'd ask here first. Thanks for any advice you can share.

My wife is a 7 sneezer, sometimes 8. I know of nothing that can stop it.

A lot of folks I know do swear by the neti pot for general nasal maintenance. Might help?
