Chiropractors

What is everyones opinion of chiropractic care? I don't believe in them personally, my fiance however thinks they are gods gift to mankind, even though she comes home in pain every time she has a visit... What are everyones opinions?

Some of them are great. If you really jack up your back, they can be a godsend. I also believe they've become much mroe popular due to this country's increasingly lazy lifestyle.

Chiropractors

They are an effective type of medical aid , I go a couple times a year when I put out a rib or twist my back

Not sure how one can have an opinion of " not believeing in Chiropractors " , how does one form said opinion ?

It depends what it's for. I was on worker's comp for 2 years. Chiro made it worse for me. I think they're a sham to be honest. You become dependant on them and you can do most of the adjustments they do yourself. Try accupuncture.

I just have a hard time taking their profession seriously... I'm a skeptic, I just don't see how making your back pop and crack is going to do anything. As a skeptic though, I'm trying to see if it's all in my head or if people agree with me.

I tried pretty much every type of fix under the sun, accupuncture is the real Godsend. Laying down, before they needled me, I could raise my leg about 40 degrees. After the needles she said lift your leg. I got to like 80 degrees and felt way less pain. Chinese medicine.

You can't visualize how having your spine or other bones out of their alignment wouldn't cause discomfort ?

Seems pretty simple to me

It's great that accupuncture helped your issue , but because chiropracty didn't resolve your issue doesn't automatically make it a " sham "

This ^^^
personally i've only gone once, my back was really screwed up after lifting something wrong, and i was in the same amount pain when i left, but by the time i got home i was out of pain.

My parents and sister swear by chiropractors, and they go 3-4 times a month.

The popping and cracking is your bones and such re aligning. I have a bad hip which causes me great pain in the hip, knee and ankles and I go to fix that problem. It however is not a one time fix deal it's like taking antibiotics, you gotta finish the treatment or it gets worse

I go to the chiropractor once a month and I do hurt a little after the visit, but feel great the next day. I am a stead fast believer that they do work wonders and while it is not a permanent fix, they can make the time in between your visits a lot more manageable.

I definitely get that, the part I have a hard time with is how popping and cracking put everything "back into alignment"

It's looking like I'm just an old grumpy skeptic in here....

Your muscles attached to the bones get comfortable with having everything out of alignment and like to hold them there. You go into the office, they pop and push all your bones back into their OEM state, and you get a better range of movement. The problem is though, the muscles are now strained because they are not used to the new bone alignment. They over time will pull you back to how you were and how they are most comfortable. Thus you have to keep going until the muscles stop fighting the proper alignment (and thus the reason for a little pain).

I'm basing it off not only my many years of experience but the experiences of those in my life as well. I'm glad it works for some people. Obviously your bones and joints should be in their proper spots, but just so you know, most of the adjustments can be done yourself.

I used to be against chiros too until I had to go for treatment from an accident and not only did she fix the problems I had from the accident she fixed the problems I had prior. Haven't been in awhile and I play tackle football without pads with the buddy and now I'm back in pain. As soon as I start to get a regular schedule at this new job I'm going back.
