I have read through your posts on the knee surgeries.
I have been through a situation not to far from yours.
What it comes down to if the meniscus is gone or damn near from both compartments most everything they do will only postpone you from getting a replacement.
I am sure your Dr. wants to prolong it as long as possible due to your young age.

They are getting much better and the materials used are getting better and longer lasting as well.

I was sort of lucky only the medial was worn out at around 45 yrs old.
They did a procedure high tibial osteotomy on mine to change the angle of the joint and place the weight on the outside in order to prolong the replacement.

Long story with complications, infections(MRSA) from one of the 5 operations, ect.

On the other hand my opposite side hip replacement went smooth as could be.

One great thing after the replacement is not having the pain all the time I know you are constantly in is a great relief.

Keep strong it is real easy to get down with all the rehab pain and boredom.
Best of luck to you.

I assume they can do this scope style.
I can't believe with all the technonogy they have not made a material to replace the meniscus.

If they spent half as much money researching it as boob implants it would be done in a week.

But I understand what drives the medical biz

Speaking with another member on here I found that there is a synthetic type of cartilage for the meniscus. Of course its only available in the UK right now. Just like other treatments such as one for hereditary angioedema.

Yes its going to be scoped again.

good luck to ya....Make sure to get crutches first, I wasnt supposed to need them but the procedure was more in depth than expected so I had to call around and find a set post-op. They doped me up pretty good with morphine and percocet right before I left the surgery center, so I was surprised I could function enough to even make 1 phone call let alone half a dozen, and take/give directions to my GF who was driving.
