x2:( I just cant seem to fall asleep earlier than like 2am, even when I have a day with high physical activity its not before 1am most likely. Last saturday I spent the whole afternoon riding my quad on a local MX track- I felt physically dead tired by around 7pm, but then I began to get a 2nd wind and I dont think I went to sleep til maybe 4am. At least I was able to sleep in a little the next morning:cool:

I'm with Devin, hospital is completly screwing me up. I never get good sleep anymore and always feel like I'm tired no matter how long I sleep. Day sleep just isn't as good.

    Fellow insomniacs and night owls,
I worked swing shift for 14 yrs, 2 wk rotations, then 7 yrs straight 3rd shift, during which I went to college. A little advice? Light management. You need to darken the bedroom completely, I used heavy weight black trash bags and a staple gun. Set a sleep schedule, only go into the bedroom during the set sleep schedule and, this is key DO NOT LEAVE the dark bedroom FOR 8 HOURS. You will reprogram your sleep clock with the simulated night. If you leave the dark room then the light will trigger your body to start normal wakeup protocols and you will not get back to sleep until it gets dark again. If you have to leave the room for tinkle time then wear dark sun glasses. Weekends really mess this cycle up as you want to spend "normal" hours with friends and family. I would stay up until evening on Saturday and go to sleep when it got dark. This reset the time schedule to weekend cycles. On Monday I would nap in the evening and start the weekly cycles again the following A.M.. If you have children then all bets are off. they will interrupt the experiment by opening the door and letting light in.

I just found this. Sorry to bring it back up, but I had to respond.
I sleep all the time, with ease. I have narcolepsy. I fall asleep without trying! I can sleep for 8hrs, wake up, and then lay down again and go to sleep. My dreams sometimes begin before my eyes close. I don't have a Non REM stage. There are lots of other things that can accompany narcolepsy, (cataplexy, nightmares) and I have most of them. I don't mean a nightmare now and then. I have a nightmare every time I fall asleep. Also my dreams are very surreal...I can even feel in my dreams. I often don't know if things I recall really happened or was something I dreamed. It's wierd, trust me!
And I do take medication that helps me stay awake most of the time. But you don't wanna know the side effects! Let's just say this- I believe most, if not all, men would refuse the medication if they knew it would happen to them.
But I am not whining about it because I can thing of worse conditions! I'll take what I have and deal with it! Good luck to all of you who have trouble sleeping. I can't say that I know how you feel!!

Alright thanks, I'm guessing my insurance doesn't cover it, but oh well.
