I got the shot a couple days ago b/c I work in healthcare and I happen to be working at a a children's hospital for the time being. Specifically, I'm a physician.Interestingly enough, I've never received the seasonal flu shot and don't intend any time soon. My wife asked me to get the shot so I don't bring the H1N1 home with me. There are a lot of misconceptions on this topic. First of all, vaccines are the single greatest advancement in medicine, period. Will the swine flu kill you? Most likely no chance. The only reason I say most likely is because nothing in medicine is 100% and obviously people have died from it. It is simply another strain of the flu. It is just a pandemic now and is worrying a lot of people. I say if you are young and healthy, I wouldn't worry about it. However, if you have an underlying medical condition (diabetes, heart problem, lung issues) you probably should get it to prevent worsening of your pre-existing condition in a sickened state. By the way, I did not experience any adverse affects from the shot other than my arm was sore for a couple hours. This is due to the fact that 2cc of liquid was injected directly into my deltoid.

Based on this info, if I said I have asthma (more specifically RDS), would you recommend me getting it?

I won't get the H1N1 or the regular flu shot. I dont believe in em.
I dont use antibacterial soap either. I think having so much antibacterial stuff is creating all this, and not letteing our bodies fight it off. Of coarse that all goes to shit if I die from getting the H1N1, then I geuss I should have gotten it.

My wife who has been a health care worker RN for over 26 years had her first flu shot ever. she was basically coersed into it by her work place. a week later she landed in the Dr office 3 times in a week and in the ER twice in 3 days and has been sick as a puking dog for almost 2 weeks.

3 liters of IV fluid 3 2.5mg pops of morph, a antibiotic drip leviquin . a fenergin drip, a flagil drip, a EKG and a cat scan a leviquin perscription,a fenergain perscription, a loritab perscription, a zophran perscription, a flagil perscription,a prednisone prescription. about 18 hours in the ER later we find she has a bad ass case of stomach flu. ER Dr thought it was colitus or apendicitus because of a really high white blood cell count and terrible abdominal pain as well as sever dehydration.

thank God we have two union medical insurance coverages. and she has both paid sick leave and extended illness bank.

why is it people want to shoot a known life threatening virus into their bodies is beyond me.

Id rather have the flu than purposefully have an influenza virus injected straight into my body

Her boss's advise was to get the shot. I am leaning on the side of caution and waiting to see if there are any negative effects. But, I too am worried not for me but for my 3 year old daughter. I don't want to be in the situation where i'm gonna regret my decision and have it backfire on me later on. It's quite a dilemma...
My father got this shot in the Air Force and says it was the sickest hes ever been in his life. The military got and still gets alot of shot that are "SAFE and TESTED".

Got our shots today. Everything went very well. It was busy and took 3 hours!

My wife has a cold so she has to wait two weeks.

Cheers.

I got it last week. Only side effect I noticed was penis enlargement. Seriously, though, no complications.

Got it today, and contrary to popular belief, I'm not walking funny nor do I have any rare diseases.

The vaccine (shot) is a dead form of the virus. It's not the full out virus, nor will it give you the full on virus. It helps your immune system get used to the thing and prevents you from getting the worst of the worst. I don't know how everybody suddenly because experts on this vaccine and how it works, let alone how long it was tested and what it has in it...
