This stuff works well for me. I have bouts of not being able to fall asleep for an hour or two several times a month. It's been (for me) totally non habit forming. I can discontinue it at any point and fall asleep just fine when I don't need it. It seems to usually be stress related. I'm always thinking about ideas for projects at work, or things I need to do the next day, and it keeps me awake.

In my job, any sleeping aid OTC or prescription is medically disqualifying, I'd look into your drug testing policy before you attempt.

Personally, I avoid any caffeine unless absolutely needed. It's a crappy 4-5 days of headaches, but afterward you'll see what I mean by refreshing! In fact, I can now tell when the waitress brings me a regular soda vs. caffeine free.
I also adjusted my workout regiment from the morning (which I still prefer) to after work.

Like others said melatonin will work well. Valerian root, or kava tea will also work well a lil less strong and natural. Lemon balm and chamomile are very mild and may do the trick, try finding a tea with them in it and have some warm tea 30 min-1hr before bed. Sometimes people enjoy a small toke of cannabis indica.

Stay away from booze, or otc medicines.

    Benadryl? Nyquil? Tylenol PM?

Any medicine can be habit forming by the way, so be cautious in whatever you take.

Yes this works really well. My wife has chronic pain and was having trouble getting to sleep a few years ago and this was a great help.

    Cheers.

a hearty shot about 10 minutes before

if that does not work rub one out ;)

joking aside, they main reason you can not sleep is you probably have some sort of stress that is keeping you up, for me it was work, i hated it, long ass shifts, 36 hours plus sometimes. once you find your stress, fix it you will sleep again.

btw. all sleep remidies are addictive, there is no way they are not, you get a good nights sleep, you use it, mentally there is no reason to stop using it. i love seeing the commercials for sleep adds that say they are non addictive

wow. this is the exact reason i hated ambien. i would text my gf random weird shit that i had no recollection of the next day. and one time my parents found me walking around the house with a knife looking for bad guys. Fock that.

but seriously though i need something to go to sleep. i have been taking benadryl and its just not working anymore. i can take like 150 mg and not fall asleep. normally 1 tab is 25 mg by the way. can anyone recommend something taht will just knock me out without being groggy the next day?
