I just got back from the Dr's office (for a reason that's not important)... I spent 1hr 20min total at the office.

No kidding, the first hour was waiting for them to call me back, the next ten minutes was spent with the doctor, and the last 10 minutes were arguing w/ the nurse about what the doctor wanted for my follow-up.

F'ing doctors. If you want to see me at 12:30, make the appointment 12:30, not 11:30.

    rant: off

Don't blame the doctors, blame the others in the waiting room! you think the doc's in the back room wacking off, or talking to that patient that decided to make a 15 minute appointment for raging-out-of-control diabetes, chest pain whenever he has to get off his couch, his not-so-sudden impotence and being depressed cuz his wife left his limp-self?

I blame everybody. This happens EVERY TIME I go to the doctor. It's not isolated. I've seen this doctor 4 times now, and the FASTEST I got back to actually see him was 45 minutes. They know damn well we're all sitting out there. They should recognize the problem and try to fix it. Make fewer appointments... make more of an effort to stay on schedule... SOMETHING.

    It's bullshit.

Don't think I missed that little funny funny STD comment there, kitty! I wont' say where I went or why, but I will say it wasn't that!

Its that way every time I go to the doc. Last time it was 4 hours long. Reason why they let go of one of the docs cause the office was not makeing enough $$ to keep him. So one doc treating double the poeple.

My wife and I go in June to see a specialist for our next ultrasound. They made an appointment for 5:30 but told us to expect a wait of about 3 hours since he is really busy. It's gonna suck!

1st time I went to see my new Doc, like you, I sat around for an hour so I could see him for 15 mins. When I got the bill I wrote a check, put it in the envelope along with a bill for 1 hour of my shop time. My lost time at work is worth $96.00 an hour to the shop...... I got a phone call the next day asking if I was serious? I told them if they were going to waste my time they could pay for it. We called it even on the first bill and they mailed my check back... :D

2nd visit to the Doc my wait was about 5 mins.....

Yeah, but there are only so many specialists...

Yeah, I know, I know. And don't get me wrong... I prefer what we have now to what we have coming.

Don't get me to try to feel sorry for doctors based on their salary, though.

Key word.. Salary. They can see 40 people or 4 people and it doesn't matter to them b/c they make the same. That is what I have learned from my mom's office.

    That's bull... .. sort of.

If they're contracted, like a doctor's group, then probably.

If they're independent, they get paid off "RVU's." I don't know what it stands for, but basically every diagnosis has a procedure, you have to code based on depth of physical, history taken, time spent counseling, chief complaint... which pays jack shit.

Or you can do procedures, and really ramp up the salary.

Anyway, I don't want anyone to feel sorry for doctors based on their salary. I'm just saying, there's usually a reason they're so far behind. Usually, it's some fool that decided that today they needed to come in for a heart attack instead of going to the ER, or they have a billion problems, etc. The doc can be in and out in 15 minutes. The patient keeps them longer. i would agree that docs need to schedule longer appointments, but it'd be tough to stay solvent in today's current reimbursement environment.

You know the funny part though? Each and every one of you wants more than 15 minutes with the doctor... yet doesn't want to wait while the other folks get their 15+ minutes.
