I've yet to have a bad beer from Sixpoint.
This is what I'm drinking the perfect beer for a hot summer day.

We have a total wine here as well. Their selection is great. I don't go there enough since a specialty grocery store has just as good of a selection and is 2 min from work.

Well Kolsch has never been a real exciting beer. It's one of those beers that is best as fresh as possible, preferably in Koln. I've been lucky enough to make it to Koln, which is an awesome city. You can visit 4 or 5 Kolsch breweries within walking distance around the city center.

Germany is very proud of local styles of beer, nobody outside of Koln would think of making a Kolsch, and no one in Koln would make a Rauch or a weizen or a Pils.

Steak tartare and sourkraut soup are popular snacks with Kolsch.

How many of you guys enjoy spicy beers? Man, I just seek out anything infused with peppers or chiles. The Habanero Sculpin IPA from Ballast Point is my favorite! I can drink that all the time.

Though it's not beer, I tried a home brewed Jalapeno Mead. It was nothing like I expected (which wasn't much to be honest). I really enjoyed it. Spicy all the way down with a really nice finish.

Try the Ghost Face Killa if you like spicy beer. Also try the No Label Jalopeno. I'm not a fan but gotta try new stuff when it comes along.

I've never seen the point of Ghost Face Killa as a beer, it's nothing about beer, just heat. Now their Billy's Chilies on the other hand WAS a great chili beer with awesome pepper aroma and subdued heat where you still knew you were drinking a beer. Too bad they ruined that recipe when Billie left.

There are plenty of places in the baton rouge area. How far are you from hocus pocus in alexandria?

I was pleasantly surprised with this brew:

I tried an Alaskan Brewing Birch Bock last night. Interesting flavor but I'm not sure I liked it. Kinda syrupy.

    images_598ffbbde14924d43acc00b75cab7c562b4963e9.jpg
    Here's the label.

Alaskan Brewing says the beer is made with Birch syrup. That would explain the syrupy feel. They also suggest pairing with sweet food (like apple pie) or cheese.

Might try another and their suggestion of food.
