I have a diabetic friend who likes Michelob Ultra or rum and diet coke.

No free lunches though. The alcohol itself is full of calories. Don't assume beer has the most calories. A glass of wine or a shot of liquor can have just as much and sometimes even more.

well if the ultimate goal is weight loss then cut alcohol all together ha its a killer regardless of liquor or beer. But i would be in the same boat so i would recommend a great whiskey distilled in Colorado its called stranahans. Its a little pricy, but is great tasting and very smooth neat, on the rocks or mixed! can't go wrong in my opinion

Flor De Cana, Jarritos Grapefruit and some limes. I'd suggest getting at least the 7 year bottle of Florida De Cana ($25ish). The 12 year is even better and they also have a 15 and 21 year. Good Shit. Smooth and by far the best dark rum in my book.

I went with a good vodka and diet tonic water with limes - Sometimes I would get sick of the tonic water and go Sprite Zero - In 2 months I lost 30 lbs - Granted I completely cut out beer and was hitting the gym 4-5 days a week - Crazy how good I felt during that time - I also went 41 days without drinking last year just to see if I could - amazing the clarity I had! Now I’m back to brewing and drinking beer - weight has jumped up a bit but boy does it taste good.

I've had good luck with low carb/keto diet. I lost 50lbs and have kept it off for more than 2 years. Not for everyone, I know, but it works for me.

I got rid of the beer and went with bourbon and diet ginger ale. I do still miss the beer, but sometimes sacrifices have to be made.

Hard liquor is around 75-110 calories per shot, typically. Miller light is what, 90-something? Hate to tell you, but if you want to lose the weight, switching from beer to booze (assuming you're trading 1 beer for 1 shot) won't really help you lose weight. Cutting it out entirely, on the other hand, will. Especially since alcohol is the perfect example of empty calories; there's zero nutritional benefits to it, but the calories from it add up in a hurry.

And if you're out of breath from climbing stairs, cardio is your friend. Definitely do that.

Whiskey and water is what I drink. It's delicious and if you don't pour heavy it's not horrible on the calories.

It’s takes 15 light beers to get me loose - 4 cocktails and I’m good - Savings of calories - indeed

I think it’s the carbs in craft beers that nail ya - Amazing how you can stop drinking those babies and LBS start melting off

I’d say Bookers over ice. You will need very little and it is one of the best tasting bourbons for the price.

Scotch, single malt, minimum of 12yr. Two fingers of something good, then I'll dip into a blend to hold me for the night. Johnny Black is my typical finisher.

Flavor is good, alcohol content is high, and there is enough variation on flavors that my beer snobbish ways are satisfied.

Coming from someone with a strong health and nutrition background, as well as losing 80lbs when i was 17, you're best bet is to pair a hard alcohol with a diet soda of you're preference. It's very easy to track alcohol calories and typically if you are taking the right approach you have a general idea of your calorie or macronutrient consumption when trying to lose weight.

Most people will subtract alcohol calories from their total daily carbohydrate intake. Will you still lose weight? yes. Is that the absolute healthiest approach to dieting no. But can you drink in moderation every now and then and still see great results, absolutely.

EDIT: watch a youtube video on how to determine calories from hard liquor and include that in your daily intake, it's pretty straight forward!
