This isn't the first time I've seen this...Icon coming in here and trying to make customers happy. I can't recall the last time I've seen a King or Fox rep in here helping customers diagnose shock problems...

This is just one of the many reasons why I'll be choosing Icon over the others...if I can ever afford them.

No I would like to have #1 the measurement from the center of the hub to the fender well at ride height, and #2 the same measurement (center of hub to fender well) at full droop. To get this jack the truck up from a front center cross member until both front tires are off the ground and take your measurement.

Sorry I should have explained better what to do.....

So I got your measurements for my droop and standard ride height. So you know too I have the ICON 2.5 extended travel RR w/CDC!
Driver side standard height: 24 1/2 inches
Passenger side standard height: 24 3/4 inches

Driver side droop: 25 1/2inches
Passenger side droop: 26 inches

would putting a 14 inch 650# coil on soften up the ride? Im asking for my personal use was just up in the mountains riding around on some rocky roads couldn't go over 15 mph without feeling like the truck was going to fall apart the ride just sucked. there great at higher speeds though, I have icon ext travel non resi with almost 2 inches of thread showing and 1.5 on passenger. I have 2 inches of droop

So looking at this we want to see a min of 1.5" of droop travel and it appears that limit is being pushed. Do you feel like the clunk is coming from the vehicle topping out over large dips or speed bumps etc.? This is a likely scenario, but it may or may not be the issue. If you don't feel that is it and you think it is the actual shock you are welcome to send it in and we will take a look. One thing it might consider is having the nitrogen level checked as well.

Let me know and we will get it resolved no matter what.

Tires as mentioned could be part of that, but also what model truck do you have? How is it equipped in general?

A 14" coil vs our 13" in the same rate will not do anything. 13" coil is designed to get maximum travel with out binding at all. Depending on the 14" coil and how it is engineered it cod bind at full compression. A revalve could be the answer to get them working good in the area of concern, but you have to consider all situations you deal with as well before making to many changes. How often are you on these roads and how is it working the rest of the time would be another question?

I think if we made some simple valving adjustments we could get them where you need them to be at the end of this. Everyone has a different measure of what they feel and need based on where you live, terrains, and how your vehicle is equipped. The great thing about our shocks is the tuning options are endless.

where I am at all the roads mostly are real rocky and bumpy. and on the street if I am not flying when I hit bumps its kinda like a tank. but when I get up above 45 its smooth. I dont know what kind of valving I would need.

Your best bet would be to call in and we can get on the phone with our shock lead Adrian who can make some valving suggestions to suit your needs. Be glad to help you out, and we can get them dialed in no problem.

Your having the same problem i had for about a year, i had my truck at like 4" front lift and it was not good at anything under 50, back off of the pre load and i guarantee it will ride better for you

Ya I love the height it gives but I mean damn, Im not over extending the shocks I still have a good amount of droop. Do I need to rebuild the shocks and give them a different kind of valving? I would like to know so that I can buy the shims and get these babies to where I like, I rode them at 1.5 on drivers and 1 on passenger for a while but it looked dumb with that much rake. and it didn't ride much smoother

Good info on here...I left the extended length coilovers at the stock setting when they were shipped. They feel super smooth over speed bumps and amazing on and off road. I'm gonna crank up the coilovers slightly to get more front fender clearance because I keep nailing my fenders with hard hits. Cranking em about 1/2" and new bumpstops should be the winning ticket for me.
