Any Landscape Architects on here??

I am a Landscape Architect for an engineering firm, just wondering if there are any more LA's on here.

 

I have thought about going back to school for it. I have a small landscaping business I do on the side and would like to eventually get into the design aspect. I love a well landscaped property. Makes a huge difference.

I have my Bach. Sci. in Landscape Architecture, the program i went though was an ecology/landuse/planning program at West Virginia University. I do not have my license yet so technically i am a Landscape Designer at the moment. I do site design for most anything, grading plans, drainage, pipe networks, cut/fill volumes, cost estimates, renderings, master plans, etc. It pays the bills so i am not complaining.

 

Interesting profession, I figured it'd be a BA degree until you mentioned the programs.

 

I like to water the grass and dig holes

 

i just made an appointment with my first LA! very excited to make my front lawn look better. right now, it needs a fire. looks like the trees puked on it.

i have zero vision, and would plant things that didnt survive. he is doing the design and letting me DIY the install. like keason..i can do the dumb stuff.

 

Thats good that you contacted an LA, you may have saved a few pennies if you had just contacted a small scale contractor that specializes in residential design, most LA's are too artsy and their vision often is not buildable. I am sure you will be pleased with what he/she gives you, but do not be afraid to voice your views about what you want in the design, remember, its your house and you have to look at your surrondings day in and day out more so than the LA.
