Very vague, and mostly incorrect. Depends on the company.

"Ignorant old fool. You clearly don't know dick about economics. You ain't entitled to shit bub, you can work your ass off but if you're not producing anything of value you ain't owed shit and need to be let go. I've worked plenty for the mines."

Negative rep left because you don't like my position on a subject? Looks like someone needs to mature a bit more before they venture on to the internet.

Well obviously they didnt give you any sort of independent thinking in your extenisve safety training. Still a student at WVU? False, I graduated three years ago at the age of 26, yes I worked full time and paid for my own education and it took me 8 years to complete. Yes, I worked for my dad in his machine shop from the time I was 10 years old until he retired. I spent all of my summers, weekends etc etc etc helping my dad and learning the value of a dollar.

Sunny boy....I bet you've never worked more than 8 hours in a day with 2 hours of mandatory breaks. Try working for an event production company, assembling training facilites starting at 630am and working until 10 pm and doing it again the next day. I will outwork you any day of the week, especially considering you get a 15 min break every two hours.

Do you know the reason i hate unions? Let me tell you.....
When I was 20 years old working for the event production company in St Louis we were forced to hire addtional union help. Long story short, i was holding a 150 lbs piece and I needed a rachet strap kicked underneath what I was holding. I thought i could reach it, but i couldnt. One of the union helpers was walking by and I asked him (while i was obviously straining) if he could kick it for me and he looked me dead in my eye and said "yea right, thats not my job, im not allowed"

I marched right over to the boss and next thing you know they were kicked off site, but guess what? we still had to pay them.

As far as what I do for a living....I work in the automotive industry and after 8 years of sacraficing and taking risks, I finally have a job where I dont have to use my body anymore.

thats a broad statement and not always true.....it depends on the business.

BTW...i do have alot of respect for anyone in that earns an honest living. Iron workers, coal miners etc etc etc. But i dont have repsect for the union thugs. CHeck em out. www.phillybully.com

    Agreed 100%

Broad but true, that twinkee factory probably spends 20x plus more on energy then wages. Probably a few poor management decisions lead them to be put in the position to need to cut wages. My paper mill uses more power in a day then Prince Edward Island. They show the pie chart every quarter and you can barely see the portion for wages

Let's be honest about the twinkie situation....Who really eats those anymore? Yeah I loved them when I was 5, but now I wouldn't put anything in my body that has a shelf life that long. It's a sign of the times, people are eating more healthy. I'm willing to bet within a yr another bakery will buy the naming rights and the twinkie will be back. That being said, in the current economic times it's harder and harder to turn a profit in the private sector. The cost of doing business are much higher than they were 5-10 yrs ago. Cuts are being made, and union or not, the first cut is usually employees. Cutting staff, perks, or salary its just business. I wish it wasn't this way but that's just hwo it is.

My brother has a landscaping business. Fuel/oil go up, rates go up...Rates go up, fewer people want work, less work=less employees. I'm willing to bet with the change with health insurance, this will be a very common solution. The cost of insurance will go up, that is passed on to the consumer, and so on. If business starts to hurt, layoffs begin.

The sad thing is, less people with jobs means less people with the money to buy the products and with prices raising its just gets worse.

I have never ate a Twinkie.

Wonder who that was? Looks like they probably Maxed out the field. Interesting it brought you back though, not sure a comment on your post would have had the same effect. I'm doubtful it was your position as much as it was a particular statement. Tit for tat.

Couldn't have been said any better! Amen!

And some nameless ninny on here gave me neg rep too, join the club.. Hey Union members How does it feel getting robbed for a portion of the money you work hard for each month and funelled to some overweight union slob bosses pockets?

Your hard earned money is also donated to a bunch of politricks and things you probably dont even really support!

And FYI i used to be union, until I got hired to a private company that pays me more and still offers awesome benefits without stealing my money

Is it really only 25 days? I thought it was longer than that. Either way, probaly a bit too long for a pastry.

Even one that is sealed air-tight? I know I wouldn't want to eat a donut that has sat out for that long, but wouldn't any pastry still be in basically the same condition after 25 days, as long as it was sealed?

Specifically, wouldn't even a twinkie be pretty stale if unwrapped and left for 25 days?

I had a box of tastykake butterscotch krimpets that went bad after a few months. They are packaged the same as twinkies. They actually started molding, not just one but the entire pack. Granted I suppose different recipes/ingredients/preservatives will also contribute to shelf life.

    .
Twinkies are intertwined into American pop culture. Like Mc Donalds, hot dogs and apple pie. It's an identifier of this culture
