Mind you that's my work truck, 6.0 Chevy that doesn't turn off until I get back to the hotel. So it's running for at least 16 hours a day

Mine now is about 18 miles 1 way, 36 round trip per day. About 50% highway. My last job was probably twice that, and the job I had before that was a full hour 1 way. The hour long 1 way commute SUCKED, especially at the end of the day and I just wanted to go home.

    A few things
Right now it's 14 miles round trip. A few months ago it was 165 round trip. I'm in construction so it depends on job site location.

Well, I got a call yesterday telling me to expect an offer letter next week. So my new commute will be 68.8 miles each way.

This is actually a couple miles shorter than my last commute, but not much.

So glad 87 octane is under $2.00 again because I fill up every other day.

I'm 42, I've been doing this for a lot of years. Also... Washington DC traffic.

    It wears on you.

    It depends.

In the morning it is usually faster to go north on 95 and then west. But in the evenings it is usually faster to go west on 66 and then go south on 15/29 THEN cut back East on back roads.

It's actually about the same distance either way. I listen to traffic radio carefully and adjust accordingly
