I have an interview coming up on the 17th of March. I have a buddy who's dad works fairly high up with the company,, that had advised him to wear a suit when he had his interview. So I bought a suit for my interview and this morning I received an email regarding the interview. The email said the dress was business casual. So what do I do? Do I just wear the suit and tie. Or do I dress down some? I'm not sure what to do any help would very appreciated. And if you have no input positive thoughts and vibes sent my way would be appreciated as well.

Always better to go in overdressed. If you wear a suit then they know you are serious about the opportunity, Even if you never have to wear it for work again. Most interviewers take it as a sign that you really are interested in the job. Take a notepad so you remember questions you want to ask and can jot down things the interviewers ask. Relax and be yourself. You'll be fine.

That's my thought aswell. Just wear the suit. It's a Georgia power position. Which is pretty large company. It's apart of the southern company. The southern company is the power provider for much of the south east. Now the position I'm interviewing for is a warehouse position.

Suit is perfectly acceptable for an interview and is the right attire IMO...shows them you really care about the job AND may put you one step above others applying for it. Good luck!

When I type on my phone I skip over words for some reason. I think faster than I can type on this small keyboard. Nor do I use proper punctuation. I don't know why but it will also add words in sentences. I never had that issue on other iPhones but this one sometimes adds is, us, the and some others.

Agree that you're better overdressed than under. Sounds like you're taking the opportunity seriously, which is probably the most important first step. Good luck!

Wear the suit, I work in a pharmacy and our dress code is scrubs. We have never done an interview with someone in scrubs, suit is better it will help you stand out being a cut above the rest.

The old adage "It isn't what you know, it's who you know" may help you out if your buddies dad has some juice with the company. Breathe deep, look sharp, don't fidget, look em in the eye. You'll be all good.

Better to over dress than under dress, if he's already in and say's wear a suit they might be wise words to listen to lol.

Wear whatever is appropriate AND you feel the most confident wearing. The clothes do not make the man. Khakis, button down shirt and tie or a suit would be appropriate in this situation. I agree over dressing a bit is better than not.

Having said that, in my last two interviews, I wore shorts, an Aloha shirt and slippahs (flip flops). That's Hawai'i for you. Yes I got both jobs.

As an Engineering Manager who works at a facility with 'business casual' dress, I'd expect an applicant to be wearing a suit/sportcoat, tie and dress shoes. It shows that you're interested. As noted above, take a pad and pen along with extra copies of your resume. Review your resume in detail and think about questions that might be asked on each line. Take your time to think about the answer to a question instead of starting to answer right away if you think you might end up going around in circles. It's OK to ask for more detail or explanations if you don't understand the question.
