Here's an idea, how about we create a poll for what type of apparatus we ride, and write about it. Also, a little about your department.

I'll start it off saying I'm on Engine 3 Newton, Ma L863. Its a full time dept west of Boston, about 200 ff's. 6 engines, 3 ladders, two ALS, and two BLS ambulances (Private ambulance)

Paramedic. always on the med. except maaybe on OT shifts.... We are county FD. We serve a large area- thousands of square miles. Santa Fe County. 6 regional meds, with 2-5 person crews, Med and engine or med and brush truck respond to all calls. We're 90% EMS call ratio, so at least I can stay busy in between fires...:]
also work/ respond with 4 Volunteer departments per region. I am in the Northern Region. Serving the Communities of Pojoaque, Tesuque, Chimayo, and La Puebla. (Say that 5 times fast:] )
Thats my truck down there. Medic 50<<<<:tumbleweed:Its a good truck. except not 4wd. we carry extrication tools, a Thermal imaging Camera, holmatro PPU with a combi tool, and a 30 gallon CAFS tank onboard. which = 300 gal of foam. which = A big fire extinguisher. and a bunch a other stuff. :cookiemonster: :D

I live in a smaller rural town that revolves around casinos. We are a combination dept. so we have 4 full-timers and about 20 volunteers on the roster. Since we dont have full crews for all our apparatuses, everyone rides everything depending on what the call-out is for.

We have 3 structure apparatuses, 1 Rescue/CAFS engine, 1 type 6 brush truck, air truck for SCBA's, 1 Hazmat trailer, 1 Decon trailer, RV for Special Operations, 3 command vehicles, 2 six-wheelers, 1 safety kiddie trailer that simulates hurricains, tornadoes, and house fires. Last but not least our live semi-burn trailer for live fire burns. Great piece of equipment for training and new firefighters. It travels all throughout Nevada and Idaho.;)
