Police Officer

George Stefan DeSalvia

Orlando Police Department, Florida

End of Watch: Thursday, February 3, 2000

Biographical Info

Age: 29
Tour of Duty: 8 months
Badge Number: 577

Incident Details

Cause of Death: Gunfire
Date of Incident: February 3, 2000
Weapon Used: Handgun; .40 caliber
Suspect Info: Guilty of first-degree murder

Officer George DeSalvia was shot and killed while backing up another officer during a traffic stop.

The second officer had arrested one of the occupants of the vehicle on an outstanding warrant. As Officer DeSalvia and the second officer attempted to remove the driver from the vehicle, he pulled out a .40 caliber Glock handgun and shot officer DeSalvia in the head. He then began shooting at the second officer, who was between the cruiser and the suspect's vehicle, striking him several times. Neither officer was able to return fire before the suspect fled the scene.

The shooter was arrested several hours later after a manhunt involving several hundred police officers from several jurisdictions. A third occupant of the car was also arrested.

In 2001, the shooter was found guilty of first-degree murder of a police officer.

Officer DeSalvia had been employed with the Orlando Police Department for eight months, and is survived by his wife and three young children.

http://www.wbir.com/images/640/360/2...ndy%20Wall.JPG Tennessee Highway Patrol officer has died in a traffic accident. Officials report

It happened just before 2:00 p.m. 36-year-old Trooper Andy Wall and Trooper Buddy Head were riding their THP motorcycles on Sam Ridley Parkway in front of Stonecrest Hospital in Smyrna. The two motor patrol units were escorting U.S. Air Force Thunderbird pilots to an air show, when the two state troopers were involved in a wreck with three other vehicles. Both Trooper Wall and Trooper Head were injured in the accident. No one else was injured in the crash.

Trooper Wall was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died soon after. The accident remains under investigation.

Trooper Wall was assigned to the THP Nashville District and worked primarily out of Dickson County with the Motorcycle Unit. He graduated from the THP Training Academy in 2004. His father, Tom Wall, is a former sheriff of Dickson County. Trooper Wall leaves his parents, a sister, and girlfriend. Funeral arrangements are pending.

"I am saddened by the loss of Trooper Wall. He was a fine state trooper who was dedicated to serving and protecting others. Tonight, the entire THP family mourns his loss," said THP Colonel Tracy Trott.
Trooper Head was transported to Stonecrest Hospital and was treated and released with minor injuries.

sorry it’s like all i could find.

Not a LEO myself but I remember this guy from high school. Was killed last night trying to serve an arrest warrant. Also served inthe military, was a lieutenant for our local fire dept and was expecting his first child. So sad.

"Deputy Kyle Pagerly was shot and killed while serving a warrant as part of a fugitive task force at a home on Pine Swamp Road in Albany Township.

When task force members arrived at the scene the suspect ran into the woods. Deputy Pagerly and his canine pursued the suspect. When officers located him he opened fire with an AK-47, striking Deputy Pagerly in the head. Other officers returned fire and killed the subject.

Deputy Pagerly was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

Deputy Pagerly was a U.S. Army veteran and had served with the Berks County Sheriff's Department for five years. He also served with the Spring Township Fire Department. He is survived by his wife."

Not sure if anyone heard about this...

http://tribstar.com/news/x66810100/B...es-in-shooting

TERRE HAUTE — A terrible tragedy unfolded on Terre Haute’s near-north side Monday afternoon when an officer with the Terre Haute Police Department was killed in the line of duty.

Officer Brent Long, a six-year veteran of the police force, was fatally shot while serving a warrant with the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force at 1812 N. Eighth St.

There were several officers making up the task force, including Long, who was accompanied by his trained police dog, K-9 Shadow. The dog was also shot at the scene but reportedly survived, police said.

Long and the other officers were serving a felony warrant for a man who police would later identify as the alleged shooter.

Police said they knew the identity of the shooter, who also died at the scene, but they were not releasing his name as of presstime.

At a news conference Monday night, Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts said the alleged shooter was deceased inside the home and remained inside the home several hours after the shooting.

RIP Officer Long.
