We have a permanent midnight shift and 2 rotating shifts.
Rotating does 2 weeks of 0600-1400 and 2 weeks of 1400-2200.
Its nice when we go from day shift to night shift because you get the few extra hours off. But on the flipside it sucks going from night shift to day shift. Get off at 2200, get home by 2300, fall asleep by midnight, then wake up at 0430 to start at 0600.

I have similar though every one regardless of days off switches every Monday. My days off are Fri and Sat ( Only took 13 years to get them). So Sun I am on one shift then Monday I am on the opposite shift 8-4 to 4-12 Is not bad but 4-12 Sun to 8-4 Mon Sucks!!

I'm actually getting used to it quicker than I expected. I was pissed about the rotation at first, but its not bad going back to mornings. The shifts go by so much faster and the calls are typically minor stuff. I still have it way better than I used to: My last department was on a 4 on/4 off schedule and we rotated shifts every week (4 mornings, 4 off, 4 graveyard, 4 off, 4 swings, 4 off, repeat). That got old fast!

hahaha...yeah we all have take homes. the whole dept. does. I clean my truck everyday. other wise it gets disgusting. I'm a freak about the cleanliness of my car always have been. I used to hate getting recruits and having them leave crap in my car dude!! drove me batshit crazy. now I have a powder coated havis cage in my new tahoe. It's so easy to clean I love it. The only bad thing is I can't take the cage out cause the size, door popper and temperature sensors are all attached but i can kinda reach under there with a vac at the car detail station at hq so not so bad..

An officer I used to work with got shot on a traffic stop early Saturday morning. Sounds like he's going to be ok, and the scumbag suspect is in custody after a crazy multi-jurisdiction pursuit with many more shots fired at officers. http://www.kvue.com/news/local/Suspe...255935111.html

What boots are yall wearing? I just picked up a new pair...last 2 years I've been wearing a pair of low end danners, before that (and still used as spares) I had Magnum Cobras...

I got lucky this year and the Nike SFBs were on the voucher list so I snagged a pair of those for summertime use...super comfy and lightweight but I'm wondering how they will hold up

Since OP mentioned asking questions, I have one.

The other night I got lit up.

First the dude said I ran a red light. I didn't, though it sure was close. The light had turned yellow, and I was in that fateful area of, "slam on the breaks and possibly slide into the intersection" or "power through it and pray it stays golden." I took my foot off the gas, processed the former, but chose the latter to be wiser and went through it. A cop was sitting at the intersection off to my left nearest the sidewalk.

He followed me, pulled me over, and said I ran a red light, I told him that I didn't
He left then came back
He said I was speeding and I said nope, I wasn't I was specifically keeping under the limit
He left and came back
He started asking me about another state. I was like "WTF?"

Then it hit me: I was driving a rental with a brightly colored out of state plate. I must have looked like an easy target.

I asked if he had a dash cam or anything to back up his claim. He said no. I asked if it was basically going to be his word against mine in court and he said that he supposed so.

He thanked me for not being a complete dick, wrote me a ticket for running a red light (failure to stop, I believe) and we went our separate ways.

Basically, besides wearing a nice suit to my court date, what can I do to help my case as best as possible? Like I said, I didn't want to risk getting into an accident by sliding into the intersection so I did what was right and pushed through the yellow (NOT red) light. I'd hate to be stuck paying a ticket because I was driving with a bright, out of state target on my rear.

I know this is ask a LEO, not ask a lawyer, but who knows, maybe I'll find someone knowledgeable.

Thanks.
