officer found not guilty on manslaughter charges

Back story- off duty officer sitting at home when group of subjects throw rocks at his house. Officer chases and catches one subject, fight ensues, subject dies of asphyxiation. Police department does nothing to back the officer, throws him under the bus during news interview. Officer is now returned to paid suspension while department does international investigation.
This happened around the same time as travon martin which is why i think it played out the way it did.

In my opinion dude got away with murder. Off duty or not, he should have just called the cops.

Involuntary manslaughterI would say, based on the news article.

Self-defense laws typically state that you have the right to defend your self with "reasonable and appropriate force". In other words, if someone slaps you, you can't shoot them with a shotgun and claim self defense.

If the 17 y/o did in fact start throwing blows, then the officer was justified in using restraint techniques he was trained in in his defense. If the kid died, who knows...could've been accidental, or Officer Whatshisface could've gone too far. Or, neither, and the kid just had some condition that made him particularly vulnerable to respiratory problems. Who knows.

And all this is of course based on what the editorial board of that news website CHOSE to put in the article. I would argue that the jurors know a shitload more about the details than we do.

To sum up: If you don't want trouble, don't throw rocks at people's houses for no reason. If rocks are being thrown at your house, perhaps video it with your phone and call your local law enforcement and homeowner's insurance.

Well put sir

We don't particularly care for threads/discussion pertaining to such hotbed topics because they lead to a lot of issues
