lighting advice

i got some ebay style BHLM and as we know they are not the brightest and they dont have a great lighting pattern. well i am ok with that but am looking for a way to brighten things up a bit at night. they are great when on high beam but low beam just not so much. i have stock bulbs in there and clear laminex over them. i also have a satoshi grill. should i upgrade headlight bulbs, get off road lights behind the satoshi? HID is not possible as i wont spend the money on that. i just want a slight upgrade.

wire harness and better bulbs. if you place lights behind the grill, they will be too high for fogs and driving lights are considered off road use only(most are anyways).

a wire harness goes in between your factory headlight plug and the bulb itself. it has a relay and is fed power directly from the battery. the theory behind this is that all wires have a certain resistance. it suppose to help be making the voltage drop less. less voltage equals less lumens for you headlights. other things also apply like the type of light bulb, how clear you headlight is(dirty, scratched), how they are aimed

yes, the wire harness has resistance too

Yeah I also have ebay BHLM's and they arent the greatest in output and patters like you said. I have HID's in them now and it helped but before that I had the Sylvania Ultra Silver stars or whatever they were called and they helped the output a lot!!

There are better bulbs on the market than that. Search around before you buy

check out this site http://www.suvlights.com/index.php?cPath=43

you can find everything you should need here. it might be pricey, but at least you will know what to get. and i'm pretty sure that someone will pipe in with "you can get that cheaper somewhere else" if so, i hope they help you out too
