Yes, you can go with HIDs for foggies. No need for 55W

    I have run 35W 3k as well as 35W 5k. Loved both.

I'm running hids in the fogs, the bulb size is h10. I went with 35w, hella bright anyways.

Damn... I return them and get 35w then.
A lot of people on TW use DDMtuning.com, I got my fog hid's from there. good pricing too.

I've heard of alot of others using 55w hids in there fogs and had not a problem. So dont take my word on it. Just make sure u get the bulb in there for a perfect fit.

Are there cut off issues (glare to oncoming traffic) with the fog lights not being projectors or does it not matter since they're so close to the ground? Just curious after all the threads about what happens with you just throw HIDs in the headlight housing and being too bright.

Tons of glare... although the Tacoma (headlights) are less "glare-y" than many car headlights with HID, they still produce a lot of errant light with HID--especially the fog lights. I would not recommend it, but many people do it just because it's a lot brighter.

Thanks, thats exactly what I needed to know. I actually use my fogs as intended so it sounds like they're a bad candidate for a HID swap. I'll probably go with my original plan and swap them out for PIAA 510's.

i had the HId in 55 watt in my fogs with no heat problem. however i bought cheap pairs from ebay, and the ballasts don't last. had 35 watt before and they were cheap junk too.

there is allot of glare, and the semi's on the highway in front of me hate them!

Error eliminator isn't necessary for our trucks... It's more for the german cars that have sensors that go off when it reads a bulb is out (I had a BMW with DDM HID's that would sometimes say "headlamp out" or something like that)

    ^^^^

Read above. Sounds like the cutoff is basically non-existant.

Only cutoff is the bumper recess, lol...........not that that qualifies as a cutoff but close to it as it gets.
