lol i'm actually thinking of selling them and going for q45 projectors and 55 watt morimoto ballasts and 5000k bulbs again or just the clear F X R projectors i'm a modding machine lol. those Q45's are the shitwith all clear lens!they would run around a thousand bucks but it would look killer and the light output would rockbut they are rare so i would have to pull the trigger soon.

i will try and get some pics tomorrow when the lighting is better. the apollo shrouds are a much better fit than the gatling shroud i had originally had tried to fit in there. those avs covers look slick in person it looks like i ripped the headlights out of a bently gt and put them on my taco lol.

Hey stunt man. Your retrofit looks really good. Looks like your adjustment may be off just a little. The passenger side light is too high. The cutoff should look like this below. Notice that there is only 1 step up in the cutoff. I'm not trying to be a smart @ss or anything. I'm just trying to help. You will notice a big difference in the output of the retrofits if the cutoff is aligned properly.

    See the difference?

Huh. So lower my passenger side a little so that there is only one step up. Cool thanks I will do it tonight. Do you have the minis and what temp bulb do you have. lol I'm about to do another retrofit this time with fxr's but the q45 ones are so rare.

I have the Mini D2S. Apollo shrouds. I am running Phillips 85122+ bulbs. They are 4350k. I was running the Morimoto 5000k. The Phillips bulb is a big improvement in light output compared to the Morimoto. The Morimoto bulb had more of a blueish tint which looked better, but I was going for output. I don't care about the color.

Here is my thread for my retrofit.

    @ Coastie31:

When you did the install of the gatling shrouds, did you have to trim them or anything? I plan on doing the same thing I just haven't had the time to install it yet. All parts are staring at me from the box :(

i did not trim anything, i felt that there was plenty of room and i used some 5 minute epoxy to put them on, when you do, put the epoxy on the light itself not the shroud, you can do it like that, but have a q tip ready to clean up the epoxy,

Did you put the epoxy on the top of the projector or on the reflector bowl? I remember playing with the parts and seeing that the gatling shroud "clicked" into the projector. Am I right?

Looks good c0astie. I pretty much flipped a coin when I was trying to decide between the gatlin gun and the apollo shrouds. Our trucks look great with the retrofits on them.

i got the last set of gatlings from nate last week, they gatling supplier is not longer making these, so this set was from the discount pile, they had a couple issues, but you will really have to look to see. my shrouds did not click in they were big, so that could be the other problem, so i mounted them as far back, so it worked fine for me, i epoxied them and let them sit, they cured then i put everything back together once they sealed up, then baked them one more time to gas them off and they are all done and look awesome, i am so glad i did this mod.

now here is the question, between steps on the projector, what is a good measurement?

also i have 35w ballasts in right now, but have 55w ones too, should i go with the 55w or the 35w?

I haven't done any left / right adjusting on mine so I really can't comment on the measuerment between the steps. Mine converge into one step as they get further from the truck, so according to the post above on aligning everything, I need to correct this.

I say give the 55w ballast a try and see how much difference it makes. I have heard some people say that it would generate too much heat, but I've also read of people running them for a long time with no issues.
